Crash during rendering using VSX3
Ok, I have made a movie in VSX3. I have made two to three movies before in X2. On top of this 57min long movie I have made a 2 min trailer. I will explain what I did to come to my error. The trailer is a 2min 7 sec. It is made up of titles, MTS files, JPEG pics, it also has color background of black, there are NO TRANSITIONS. The footage came from a Canon HF200 video camera and Canon 570is still camera. The music came from a YouTube MP4 file. This was made rather easy no crashes. This was made in the advance editing mode. I rendered the project to a Blu Ray H.264 file, a IPOD file, and a DVD 16X9 5.1 surrond file. No issues, in fact this file rendered in about 2 min. Fast right.
Now, here is the kicker. The movie is made up of Titles, color background, Transitions, MTS footage, YouTube footage that is H.264 encoded, one AVI file, and JPEG pics, music is MP3, MP4, and taken from ITunes. It also should be noted that I used painter creator, and that I seperated the video and audio from one youtube file. I used advance editor to make the movie. Sometimes when I played back the footage it would crash with a dump error. Anyway the movie got made.
When I went to render a video file (Blu Ray H.264 or AVHCD) it started to create file and the green barr moved ever so slightly. Then the error came up to contact teck support. The program crashed. So I went on this forum and found some things to try. I downgrade the quick time to 7.6 I had 7.6.8. That did not work. Next. I turned of the disabled the hyperthreading in my bios.
Turning of the hyperthreading worked somewhat. Now the file created and started to render I tried this in both H.264 and AVHCD. AT the same point, 5% the rendering crashed again "Send dump file to tech support. bla bla" Keep in mind that the 2 min trailer stated above rendered in all three diffrent formats with no problem. And with the hyperthreading enabled in the bios and the newer version of QT.
So, I did some other investigating. I removed all three YouTube videos from the project to include the audio that I split fro the YouTube video. Next, I put the three youtube videos into a project of it own. This project rendered in H.264 and AVHCD no problem. I am thinking there is no problem with them. I also removed the AVI from the project and that did not work.
My Question is what could be causing this? Do you think that TRANSITIONS could be the problems. There were none in the trailer or the YOUTUBE test I did. Also, the rendering keeps failing at the same point i.e. 5%. How do I find out what point of the movie the 5% is at so I can start investigating further.
I like Corel alot and this has turned out a very nice product. I am just frustrated because I have worked on this movie for a month and half. Any help is appreciated.

Hello
Have you tried removing all MP3 audio from your project and rendering that - many users have had trouble with SOME mp3's and have solved their crashing problem by converting the mp3 to .wav and using that instead - it doesn't happen with all mp3's many seem to be OK - but every now and again a rogue appears.

Re: Crash during rendering using VSX3
do you think since the trailer rendered with the new QT and the bios in hyperthread that these are an issue in my case at all what about the transitions and how do I determin where the 5% rendering is in my video. Also, what program can I use or how would I convert the mp3 files to WAV files. USE Itunes? thanks

Re: Crash during rendering using VSX3
I'm thinking maybe the amount of files and the variety.
Try shortening the video down by making several smaller files and then join then all back up to make one which you can then use to make your variety of files from.

Re: Crash during rendering using VSX3
When VideoStudio crashes check the event the Windows Event Viewer
Windows 7/Vista
- Click Start
- In the box right above the Windows start button ("Search programs and files") type: event
- From the list above select: Event Viewer
- Expand the Windows logs by double clicking direct on "Windows Logs" or click once on the triangle to the left of "Windows Logs"
- Select: Application
Now from here scroll through and look for the error message generated from VideoStudio, when you look in the details for the error message you should see:
Faulting Application Vstudio.exe 13.0.0.0 and then a faulting module.
Post this information and that will give us a better idea on what is causing the crash.

Re: Crash during rendering using VSX3
The problem was the transitions and the color back ground. I went back thru movie and deleted transitions and color back ground at some points they over lapped. It would have been nice for a pop up to say that you cant don that. Boy was that a pian. Nice program but is not really user friendly. Well on to next problem of creating disc. Both FActory and the other program are terrible. Already been shut down several times. A waste of 8 hour day off.

This has crashed on me twice now. Also any idea how to put a video or your own still into the disc menu. The temps are rather boring I think. I don;t understand why you can;t create from a black menu. Neither factory 10 or this program are user friendly. Direction in the help menu are pitaful.

Re: Crash during rendering using VSX3
Hi
Video Studio X3 came with DVD Factory Pro 2010 as part of the main program.
This software is useless to say the least, that is Factory 2010.
Corel having recognised their mistake by providing DVD MovieFactory 7SE as a replacement.
This is available as a free download for X3 owners.
You should use this program to author your DVD.
Can you confirm which program you are using to burn a DVD?
By the way are you creating standard DVD or BluRay?
I read your earlier posts and you indicate working with some HD material.

Re: Crash during rendering using VSX3
Hi, I am working with HD and have downloaded the 7SE package and that is what I am working with. Last night I finally got the menus the way I would like however, I am not sure if they work because the program crashed twice while I was trying to burn. Results 2 coasters. An Blu Ray discs are not cheap. So I went back to X3 to render the movie in DVD format. Guess what! Yep the rendering crashed again just like the original problem. I tried 3 times and it crashed at three different points. This is becoming really frustrating. MY computer is not even 4 months old. I have an I-7 pross. that runs at over 2.8ghz. I have two 1 TB hard drives that spin at 7500 or better. My video card is a very high quality NVIDIA. NOthing else running at the time I try anyhting in X3 or 7SE. With 7SE i get an error saying the computer is to busy doing something else or cannot keep up with the burn. I suspect this is because it is trying to burn at max speed. The blu-ray can only burn at 4X. I can not seem to change the speed in the program from MAX to another speed. Any ideas. ALso, why does the X3 crash keep happening. This software is very bugy compared to the X2. I don;t recall ever having real problems with this. Most of my footage that I work with is HD from my Canon HF200 video camera. I upgrated to this program for the HD reason.trevor andrew wrote:Hi

Re: Crash during rendering using VSX3
You are right. That is why I use neither to burn. You have to first create a video file before burning, so why not insert that video file into X2 for burning, since you seemed to have success with X2.Both FActory and the other program are terrible.

Re: Crash during rendering using VSX3
Hi
When using Movie Factory 7SE
Create a Bluray Folder rather than creating a disc, this may save you some money, at least you wont have as many coasters.
The process creates BDMV and Certificate folders which contains your movie.
If this is successful then the rendering stage is ok and the failure is during the burn process.
As far as I know you can now burn these folders to a disc as a data burn to complete your Bluray DVD.
I have not tried this but one of our forum members indicated that it worked.

Can you burn a blu ray movie in X2 and can I have both X2 and X3 on the same cpu. Corel recommends that you uninstall X@ before loading X3.Black Lab wrote:You are right. Re: Crash during rendering using VSX3
Yes you can burn blu ray with X2. Yes you can have both installed on the same computer. However it seems that X2 does have issues when installed on a Win7 computer. On my Vista computer I currently have VS 11.5+, VS X2 and VS X3, on my XP computer I have VS 8, 9, 10+, 11.5+, X2 and X3, along with MSP8, DVD MF4DC, 5+, 6+, and 7 Pro.Can you burn a blu ray movie in X2 and can I have both X2 and X3 on the same cpu. Re: Crash during rendering using VSX3
Ok somehow, I was able to burn a DVD through 7SE. I have made all the menus for Blu Ray and want to burn in 7SE. But here is the problem. When I want to burn using the blu ray burner 7SE will not let me highlight Create Disc image. Also and probably most important and why I have burned 2 blu ray coasters is under the more blu ray options (the little disc in the bottom left hand corner of stage 3) will not let me highlight Buffer Underrun protection. This is the exact wording of the error I have gotten twice before while attempting blu ray burn. Does anyone know what I a doing wrong or have any suggestion. I am so close to completing this project.. Also it will not let me select a write speed of the blu ray burner. It is always set to maximum. Anyone?
