Cannot download my old projects into VS X3

Post by Mike Warren »

I have Pro X2, and just now got full version of Pro X3 (was on sale). But.. when I download from the C master drive my X2 projects, they go to VS X2... not my new X3. If I try to get them via X3, I'm told its a "file mismatch". If I move Vs X2 to another hard drive, so it don't interfere with X3's operation, I then cannot even get my recent X3 project from C drive... I can get nothing on X3, except for when it's X2 clone is back on the C drive, where it was originally. Gentlemen, what to do? Mike

Hi Mike

There should be no problem installing X2 and X3 on the same drive.
Indeed many have various versions installed.

How are you opening the project?
Do not double click the icon from Windows Explorer
Start Video Studio X3
File- Open Project browse the hard drive for your Video Studio Project files (VSP’s)
Make sure you are selecting VSP files.

If you are viewing the “open folder” in Detail view then the “type” may show as a Corel VideoStudio 12 Document, Ignore this , as its not a problem.

Hello Mike,

I'm Abiel from Corel Support. If you have both the VS X2 and VS X3, then that can be the reason why the VS X2 is the one opening your project files. You may need to reassociate the VS X2 files to the VS X3, so that when you double click on the VS X2 files the program that will open is th eVS X3. If you do not know how to do this, all you need to do is to right click on any VS X2 project files then select OPEN WITH > CHOOSE DEFAULT PROGRAM... > then select VS X3 on the program list, make sure that you have the ALWAYS USE THE SELECTED PROGRAM... checked.

Hi,
I also have just installed VS X3 on my PC where I had X2 installed.
Can somebody please advise if I can move the library and its contents of X2 across to X3 before I uninstall VS X2.

Many Thanks
john

Both VS X2 and X3 have the ability to Export and Import the Libraries. In VS X2 go to Tools>Library Manager>Export Library, select a location on you computer to export them to. Then in VS X3 go to Settings>Library Manager>Import Library, navigate to the location that you exported your VS X2 Library.
