X2 + Win 7 + patches + "File format error"

Post by mgrogan »

I originally had problems running X2 and XP trying to open files
http://forum.corel.com/EN/search.php?ke ... mit=Search

I've since installed X2 ona Toshiba laptop running Windows 7 Home

When I try to open a .mov file (renamed as from above posting)
1. X2 does not see it a a valid format, so I choose “All files from the drop down box, then
2. I get the error “File Format mismatch”

I have completed the steps as mentioned below in this posting,

http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php ... &start=180

My X2 displays version 12.0.98.1

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

:)

Hi Margret

There has been some issues with Mov files and Video Studio
Corel suggests reverting to an earlier version of QuickTime

Having said that there are many variations of Mov files, some H264 not being supported by VS although you should be able to play and edit them but not encode to h264.

If you cannot open the files in VS, then I don’t suppose you can give any property details, Are you able to play the files in the QuickTime player and view their properties?

Thanks Andrew for your reply.

I'm using the same movie camera as I had previously working when X2 was working in XP, then renaming file to .mov (as per the previous 2009 posting).

I had been looking at the videos in VLC so never thought about installng it!

Thanks, all I needed was an install of Quicktime.

:) :) :)

Thanks again

:)
