Trying to capture video, having trouble with audio
I'm trying to capture video from a VHS/DVD machine using an EasyCap (2.0 I think). I'm able to get video but it's pulling the audio from my computer's mic. I investigated settings and found that 1) the format resets to MPEG if I set it on DVD and 2) when I go into Options > Video and Audio Capture... and select the only option in the drop-down for Audio device that says USB, the program crashed. I opened it back up and saw that it was still set on USB for the Audio device, but when testing I didn't get the video's audio. I'm new to capturing video this way, am I missing something? I double checked that the cables are plugged in correctly.
Re: Trying to capture video, having trouble with audio
did this this device come with some other software, or did it come only with Video Studio? It's always best to use the software that's specially made to work with the capture device.
You might find some help on the EzCap website or their forum. This can get tricky, since the hardware, drivers, capture-software, and operating system all have to work together. If you've upgraded Video Studio or your operating system since buying EzCap, it might not work...
Check the documentation that came with the device to make sure everything is compatible.
The current version of EzCap comes with different capture software and (apparently) does not work with Video Studio. (Of course, once you capture a digital file onto your drive you can use Video Studio or any other video editing an DVD authoring software of our choice.)
There are several companies that sell something called "EazyCap", and these may not work as well as the real "EzCap". If you search the forum, you will find that a lot of people have trouble with these cheap video capture devices. Maybe the real EzCap is OK... I don't know.
