No Audio

Post by Phocused »

Hi, my first post -

I have Videostudio V8. I have a JVC CamCorder which has a Bullet cam and Mike connected to it. I recorded some footage using my AV connection to drive the Bullet Cam and ran it over the TV - Everything is good, picture quality and Audio.

However, when I connect the Camcorder to the PC via my firewire connection I capture video and I assume the Audio is there but for the life of me I cannt get it to play.

I know its there although only on a single channel as the mike is mono, because I can see the Audio display moving up and down, however no noise.

I have tried splitting the audio out and somehow have managed to got some sound but as soon as I select run clip or project I loose the sound and am unable to play it again.

This is DV and AVI capture so I understand the video and audio channels are intertwined but I am at a loss as to how I get it to play. i have tried saving the filw and playing on a player - good video, no audio.

Frustrated - can anyone help??????

Hi,

In the Audio View on the Timeline, select the clip. At the upper left, Duplicate L channel.

Or R channel. Whichever works for you.

You might need to *gain up* using the slider.

Check your audio properties on your pc to ensure that ‘Wave Balance’ is not muted.

(Right click the loud speaker icon on your tool bar and select open volume controls.)

thanks for the responses all have been helpful.

the current status is that if i capture DV -> Mpeg2 then the sound works fine, if however I capture from DV -> AVI the sound doesnt appear to work at all.

Any assitance would be gratefully received.

Computers you either love them or hate them.

Are you capturing to Dv Type-1 :?:

In capture mode
DV as Format
Options
DV type select Dv Type-1

Trevor,

I have tried both Type 1 and Type 2.

In a previous life I plugged the firewire cable into the Camera, hit capture, edit, save and hey presto it all seemed to work fine.

8 months on, a new camera (both MiniDV) same software, re-installed and it isnt quite that easy.

The sound is defintely there on 1 channel, i can see it running and at times get it running. what i cannot so is get it to save in a file and then play.

However under Mpeg 2 it all works fine.

What are the properties of the Avi files?
(right click a clip in the timeline and select properties)

Using the Avi clip, when you split audio does it play ok in project playback.
if yes try creating a new video file (avi)
does the new clip play ok?

its a strange one.
