Two extra (frozen) frames ...

Post by Flevobird »

It occurs only in Corel Video Studio Pro X3 ... two extra (frozen) frames for free. In other programs all frames of my camera act correct.

At the beginning of each video file there are two extra frames at the timeline, so each video file starts with three identical frames and that causes each file starts with 0,12 sec frozen video.
When I remove the two frames, two frozen frames are added at the end if a file! In the end-product there are three frozen frames between each cut! And 0,12 seconds is visible … certain if you know the problem. :?

Does anyone have the same experience or recognize the problem?

I assume you are using X3?

Do you capture with X3? I ask because I edit with X3 and do not experience your problem. But, I do not use X3 to capture. I use v10.

Sorry, I'm indeed using X3.

I don't capture with X3, I'm using files (.mts) direct copied from the SD-card and files (.m2ts) copied via Panasonic HD-Writer 2.5E software. Files are imported to X3.

Hi

Interesting, I have two sample file from 700 series Panasonic ( provided by different forum users).
Just had a close look and the first two frames do seem to be identical on both video clips.

Nice to know that drag and drop end up as Mts rather than M2ts produced by the Writer.

I assume both types show the same problems.

I don’t seem to have any problem once I cut and delete the frames.

I don't think it is a Panasonic problem: the service desk checked my files because I thought the problem was the camera, but their Première Pro didn't have the problem. After that I checked my files with Nero Vision 10 and there the files were correct too.

Yes, both filetypes have the same problem.

I'm glad the problem isn't the camera or files and you could reproduce "my" problem. I'm curious if other files will do the same: is it a general VSX3 problem or only with '700' files.

Hi Richard

I have just checked the files with another editor and they seem ok.

I use standard video DV-Avi and have not noticed this problem,
but will run a check some other HD files I have access to

Hi Richard

I have just viewed about 6 different types of video file, only the Panasonic MTS clips show the extra two frames?
By the way I tried X2 as well, same results.

Thanks Trevor, for tying. Strange that the mistake only occurs in VS with Panasonic (HD) files, while other software (Première/Nero) doesn't. In a certain way it should be a VS problem, but I'm afraid Corel won't solve anything as we are experiencing in other cases.

Hi Richard

The Panasonic I assume has a few video formats/qualities it records to.
Have you tried using those to see if it gives the same problems.

I use a standard camcorder Panasonic 400 and was considering upgrading to the 700 series. Obviously with this problem I would have to use a different editing program, unless I can easily batch remove the frames.

It may be worth approaching Corel support, nothing to loose even if they don’t come up with a solution.

Still thinking

I like working with VideoStudio, but bought already another program to burn with the export files made by Corel.

My SD700 camera works realy wonderful, everything is perfect for me: sharpness, color, imagestability, 5.1 sound, battery-duration, light-sensitivity, noise (nightshots: real black) etc.

My experience with the (dutch) helpdesk is that they most of the times only tell to get advised at this forum ...

It is strange the two extra frames are only provided to Panasonic files and only with Corel VideoStudio. I also tested the files with Nero Vision Xtra, Pinnacle Studio, and Sony Vegas but didn't get the extra frames with these programs. Panasonic did test with Adobe Première Pro and even couldn't reproduce the problem.

I did spent hours to correct my 1,5 hour project to cut two frames from every footage which wasn’t edit before. With new projects I'll correct every start immediately while editing, unless this problem I like working with VideoStudio.

I hope Corel will correct the problem, I'm not the only one with Panasonic HD-camera. The forum is very helpfull, but software has to be fixed by Corel ...

Further I realy hope Corel will correct all problems with ‘DVD Movie Factory Pro 2010’ OR will add Dolby 5.1 sound to the supplied alternative DVD Movie Factory 7 SE, so that will be a real serious replacement. It is no extra but a something like a patch because the original programe isn't working well. I like to have a product that does all features which I've bought: for me the offered and mentioned features were the reason to buy Corel and not another brand.

Hi Richard

It is indeed a strange problem that only affects Corel Video Studio.

I only have a few sample video but all produce these extra frames.

If you haven’t already done so, report the problem to Corel Support.
In fact one of Corels Support representatives has been frequenting the forum of late (Abiel Corel NA) Maybe he could give some advice on this problem.

I didn’t have information of global support. The Dutch helpdesk tells me to solve my problems at the forum ... strange; the forum is independent and runned by volunteers, so the forum isn’t responsible for software failures.

Thank you. I'll PM him to get attention to my problem.

I've still got the problem with the Panasonic AVCHD files: the first three frames of each clip are frozen, so there are two identical frames too much at each beginning. In November I did sent my recordings to Corel to solve the problem. I'm not the only one with a Panasonic camera and the error occurs consequently.

I did download the new version, VideoStudio X4, today to test with my files. I feel very sad about the result: the same problem is still there!

The provided "work around" by rerender the video with "share - make videofil - optimize MPEG - non-square rendering" doesn't solve the problem and don't eliminate the extra frames frome the videofile.

Panasonic also analysed my files and did a test with them and they concluded the files are okay. Tested in other editing (trial) software the error doesn't occur, but I prefer VideoStudio and bought that product ...
