I have recently purchased a Go Pro HD Hero camera http://www.goprocamera.com/products/hd- ... camera.php but when editing the files in VS X2, I receive the message "Unable to open file, file mismatch" message. The camera records in "MPEG4 (.mp4) files using h.264 compression".
I have posted up a similar question yesterday entitled "File mismatch message" and Ron P replied saying:-
"The File format Mismatch error generally is due to trying to insert a photo when using the insert video command, or insert a video file using the insert image command. You should be able to insert an MP4 video file into VS. However I have on an occasion found MP4 files that I had to recode to get VS to accept it. There are so many variables of codecs, so there will be some that the program throws fits over.
I done some checking and found that while VS Pro X2 refused to open some of my YouTube downloads that were mp4 using the h.264 codec, I could insert them with VS X3. So there are some problems with MP4 files and VS X2.."
I have used AVS conversion software to convert the files from MP4 to MPEG and can now edit them, but I seem to have lost the HD effect!
I've just tried a different way to import the files (I had transferred them from the memory card onto the PC). I have now tried to capture the clips via import from mobile device, selected the memory card, then the file and..........................."the file XXXX is an invalid file format"
This is quite frustrating, can somebody please help me as I think I'm doing something wrong? TheVS X2 box states that I can capture high-definition video in HDV, so is it me??? Many thanks.
