video studio error - cannot create file

Post by jaarthur »

Hi, I am trying to create dvd's fro some home videos. They are larger than can fit on a cd so I am trying to create video and audio_ts folders which I will then compress with dvdshrink before burning them using movie factory. however, I am consistently getting a cannot create file error which seems to occure when the file reaches 8.58 gb. Any thoughts about how to get this to work? Thanks!

Welcome to the forums!!!

Since the maximum a DVD can hold is 8.5 GB, I imagine that the program, if it has been instructed to prepare a DVD-compatible mpeg-2, will not make a file which is larger than 8.5 GB since it knows such a file won't fit... But could you please confirm that that is what you are trying to produce? And also give us the properties of the original video you are using...

You could, of course, also reduce the bitrate a little so that the project comes in at 8.5 GB or a little under that...

Hi

And you tell us what version of video studio you are using. :?:

To the lower left of the burner module is the disc size, defaults to 4.3, have you changed this to 8.5 . :?:
