Crashing durning burn

Post by Colleen »

I just tried to burn a DVD for the first time on my new computer and it keeps getting to "output disc" and crashing. A Windows message pops up saying it had a problem and needs to close the program. Is this something with Windows 7? I've already updated my VS x2 and directX.

Not necessarily, it could very well be a VS X2 compatibility problem with Win7. Check out what Corel has listed as Certified to work on Win7...
http://www.corel.com/servlet/Satellite/ ... 4516325170

You'll notice that even though they did issue a Win7 patch for VS X2, it is not listed as a product that is certified to run on Win7.

Also, did you do your editing and then jump straight to the burning module or did you first -- as we recommend -- produce a DVD-compatible mpeg-2 of your project (Share > Create Video File > DVD/Custom); then start a new project to clear the timeline, then choose Share > Create Disc > DVD, and when the burning module opened, insert the new mpeg-2 for burning?

Yes I did just as you described, produced mpeg-2 files and then started a new project.

Do you know what could be the problem? Are others not able to use VS x2 for burning DVDs using Windows 7?

Hi guys,

I am experiencing a DVD Burn problem too. I have creatyed a Mpeg file to burn, however the progress shows 99% and than after a while I get an error message : Failed to burn.
I tried another type of DVD, same problem.
I had the writer repalced, same problem.
I used both factory 2010 and MF7.
Then I tried to burn with Nero vs8 and it worked.
I have out in a request to Corel for an answer

I was able to finally burn a DVD. I right clicked on the VS icon and clicked troubleshoot compatibility. I first tried to let Windows decide how to change it , but that didn't work. I then tried to answer the questions to change it myself. I had originally used VS on another computer with Vista so I answered it that way(read the questions). Now it is burning DVDs. Hope this helps.

Hi friends,

I got a reply from support and as expected I had to de-install and re-install VSproX3.
Sofar it solved the problem, however it is annoying that when there is a problem you have to go thru the hassle of this de-end re-install.

I was able before this step also to burn the same project thru VS12, so apparently something was wrong within VSproX£.

So this info might be useful for future simalar problems
