VTS file to Mpeg

Post by stelch »

Hi
I am looking for a program that will allow me to convert each "VTS" file I have ripped off of a dvd and convert into a mpeg file. I want this so I van edit it with VideoStudio 8.Anyone have any suggestions?

Both UVS7 and UVS8 can capture all the video of a unencrypted, noncommercial (no CSS encryption or Macrovision) DVD. UVS7 requires you to change the capture plugin, while UVS8 has a new menu item specifically for importing video from a DVD.

Alternatively, you can rename the .VOB file(s) to .MPG -- most programs will then be able to open the file. This again makes some assumptions, such as not having multiple angles or audio streams / captions.

Thanks THoff for your reply.

"while UVS8 has a new menu item specifically for importing video from a DVD."

Please explain how to do this. It will be magic if I can do it. You see my daughter sent me a home made DVD and I want to edit this.
I want to put the DVD into my PC DVD player and capture, as you said, with the VideoStudio 8 and then edit it.

Click on the little folder icon in the lower left corner of the UVS8 window, and from the menu that pops up, select "Insert DVD/DVD-VR". Browse to the DVD or a VIDEO_TS folder on your hard disk, and it will scan the DVD structure and let you choose the scene(s) to import into the current project.

Thanks a million for the info. That’s exactly what I was looking for. Thank you again. I don't know why I didn't see that in the manual.
