Lost all contents of my Library in VS Pro x2
While working on vspx2 it locked up. Rebooted and discovered that my main hard drive was not detected. My computer guy got it working again, but my hundreds of files (images, video clips, titles, audio clips) that I had stored in vspx2 library, so neatly organised, had disappeared. It became like it was when I first bought it. Everything was gone from the library, though they were still on hard drives. scattered everywhere. What to do? MikeV

Hi Mike
Some users do experience problems with video studio locking up, but I don’t think I have heard of it affecting the files on the hard drive.
Although it may be a VS problem it is as much likely to be a computer issue.
Knowing a little about your computer may help, Can you update your profile to include your pc specification?
For XP the user library files are found within this location
C:\Documents and Settings\Trevor\Application Data\Ulead Systems
If they are deleted then they will be re-built as default when VS is started.
Other folders within this location include the My Documents folders.
I just wonder if you have lost other files as well as Video Studio ones which would indicate a computer problem?
The library files are called VS_Video.dat …etc there are a few versions within the VS files.
You could search your pc, try the Recycle Bin just in case?
Ok
X2 has a library manager which gives you the option to save the library/export library. A means of backing up the library content, and can be imported when needed.
Maybe this option is worth following when you have re-built the library.

Re: Lost all contents of my Library in VS Pro x2
Thanks for reply. my system is pentium (R) 4 CPU 3.00 GHz, 3GB Ram,
Went to VS_Video.data under Corel VS 12, and when I tried to open any of these I got, "cannot display because a suitable graphics importer could not be found." The same with all the others when I select them. In top left corner of screen get icon of Quick Time Picture Viewer.... but does not work, says needs hookup to Internet, which I don't have. I may have deleted it by accident. Could it have any thing to do with my problem. It seems like my library reset, where everything is now gone... but not gone from hard drive. My library files are still on hard drives, but now scattered about and no longer in VSPro X2.

Hi Mike
Sorry if I have confused the issue, the video library files are called VS_Video.dat.
These are system files, read by Video Studio but cannot be opened by us.
We could save/copy these files to say our desktop effectively saving the libraries content as backup.
Then at a later date replace the files, restoring the library.
VSX2 and X3 have provided us with a backup option from the Library Manager—Export Library.
My thoughts on your crash were hoping that your files had been somehow deleted and residing in the Recycle Bin, (wishful thinking I suppose) in which case you would be able to restore them.
Unfortunately you are left with rebuilding the library. But for the future work use the backup facility.
I am still a little concerned as to why it happened in the first place?
Libraries…………….
Files added to the library are simply thumbnails/ virtual clips representing the files on the hard drive, these are linked to clips in the library.
The same goes for clips in the timeline, they are virtual clips again linked to the files on the hard drive. Editing these clips does not change the files on the hard drive.
