All I want to do is add text BEFORE video starts!!

Is there no simple way to select a start and end time for the video timeline?

I have the text the way I want it, but it's OVER the video. I want the text to come up first then the video. The only way I was able to accomplish this is by drag and dropping the video into overlay track timeline. That won't work b/c I have to overlay the track yet. I know I can overlay then save then reimport. but something as basic as delaying when the video portion starts by 8 seconds should be simple. Help! To simplify further. If I want an 8 second delay before my video starts how do I "insert" that delay before the video note: I want a HARD delay not fade in fade out..THANK YOU!

Hi

Drag a colour clip from the library to the beginning of the timeline, adjust its duration.
Set the title over the colour clip.

I guess it worked then - just to add a little more - it does not have to be a colour block - it can be any photo or pattern that you have created yourself - a company logo say or your own trademark - any of the picture formats that VS accepts can be put behind a title

...and of course you can similarly insert colour panels throughout the video if you want to insert titles but not over the video itself; and at the end for end titles. Moreover, you can insert transitions between the colour panel and video, just as you can between video clips, should you wish...
