I am having a problem changing the burn speed.
I have never had any problems burning DVDs with my old computer fitted with Pioneer drive. A few months ago I bought a new computer fitted with a Samsung 22x burner, since then I have been having intermittent problems with discs not burning properly. I still use the same Verbatim 16x discs. This weekend I had to make 30 copies of some home movies for a customer and 2 failed just before they were finalized and a third one burnt ok but jumped when it was tested in a player. I was about to buy a new burner but a colleague suggested slowing down the burn speed to see if it is any better. I used the image recorder supplied with VS10. This is normally set to MAX. I burnt a DVD and it took 3m43s. I then set it to 16x and burnt another one and the time was the same, so I thought that the burner must have sensed the disc was 16x and adjusted it automatically. So out of interest I burnt another one at 8x and was surprised to find it also took exactly the same time. While all three dics were being burnt the screen said burning at 22x. Does anyone know why I cant select a burn speed and should I normally leave it set to MAX.

Re: Cannot change DVD burn speed
Hi Michael
As you have changed the DVD Burner I would suspect a compatibility issue between burner and disc.
It could of course be a faulty burner, just cos its new doesn’t mean its gonna work?
Maybe try the Pioneer in the new pc, if that works ok then your back to the Samsung or discs types.
