How do I slow and Deepen Audio?

Post by m12462 »

I've copied a segment of my video that I want to have run again at the end of my clip. In the duplicate part, I want to have the audio sound slower and, even more importantly, deeper (almost sinister) to acheive the effect I'm looking for.

I've seen a VS Pro X3-produced clip with this effect but I can't figure out how to do it. I've only been able to slow the overall clip. To get the deep sound I want it would have to be slowed WAY to much.

Any help would be appreciated. I'm brand new to VS Pro X3 but I'm loving it so far.

Thanks!

I am only guessing here but how about going back to the original video clip and make that run slow then make an audio file of the part you want ...Ken

Try using Audacity, a free and powerful audio editor. It has the ability to change the pitch without changing the speed. I've used it for similar effect on my voice. You will need to create a sound file from your video clip. To do this:
1. Setup a Preview Range, that contains just the video clip you want to alter the audio.
2. Now go to Share>Create Sound File, provide a name for your sound file.
3. Press the Options button and select Preview Range. I would also uncheck the Play after... box.

VS will create a sound file from your video clip. Open Audacity, import your sound file. Go to Effect>Change Pitch. Make the adjustments, then Export it. Now in VS X3, you can use the Replace clip function, by first Splitting the audio from the video, then right-clicking on the audio track, selecting Replace Clip... , navigate to the audio clip you made from Audacity, selecting it and pressing Open.

Hi

There are some audio filter options.
Right click the video clip and select Split Audio. (this mutes the video and creates an audio clip below)
Right click Audio Clip and change playback Speed
Right Click and select Audio Filters.

I haven’t used these so cannot confirm they will do what you want.

Otherwise use an Audio Editor, Audacity is free software used by many on this forum.

The Pitch Shift audio filter in VS, works along the same principal as the Pitch shift in Audacity, however I've had problems with VS's audio filters, and have tried the Pitch Shift, which lead me to use Audacity...;)
