Plug In problem in PaintShop Photo Pro X3

Post by BumbleBee »

Have installed and registered a useful utility called Tintii 2.4.0 ~ from http://www.indii.org, which should run as a Plug In in PSP Pro X3 but I just cannot get it to work.

The tintii.8bf and tintii.htb files were placed in the following directories at install ... which are listed as being the correct ones on the indii website:
C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel PaintShop Photo Pro\Languages\EN\PlugIns
C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel PaintShop Photo Pro\X3\plugin

But when I check under the Effects Menu in Corel PSP Pro X3 I am met with "No PlugIns loaded"

In an effort to sort this I went back to the tintii.8bf file and changed the association to "Open with" Corel PSP Pro X3

When I then double clicked this file Corel PSP Pro X3 opened but displayed the message "The specified file cannot be identified as a supported type" and therefore would not open.

I did a silly thing and left the tick in "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file" so now cannot return it to its original association. I have tried uninstalling Tintii and re-installing but the Corel file association remains!

HELP PLEASE
How do I get Tintii to work as a PlugIn in Corel PaintShop Photo Pro X3?
How do I restore the correct file association if necessary?

First, don't worry about the file associations. Those won't effect anything.

Secondly, plugins are like mini-programs so Paint Shop Pro doesn't open them it runs them. Trying to associate the files never would have done anything so that's actually normal behavior.

Now as for the plugins open up Paint Shop Pro select File->Preferences->File Locations and select Plugins from the list on the left side of the dialog box that appears.

When you do the on the right you'll see where Paint Shop Pro is looking for its plugins. For example mine lists the plugin location as

C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel PaintShop Photo Pro\X3\PSPClassic\Languages\EN\PlugIns

You can either place the plugin files there or create your own spot for plugins. This is what I do, I created a folder called Plugins inside my My PSP Files folder and then add that folder location to the places where Paint Shop Pro should look when loading plugins. I do this for easy back-up of my plugins. :D But you can do what you want.

Just make sure that you place the files somewhere that Paint Shop Pro knows to look.

For what it's worth, Norton has flagged this site (http://www.indii.org) as unsafe because of adware.

And yet McAfee has reported no problems with that site. Go figure...only question is who to believe?

Strange, its not exactly bristling with Ads, just the home site of a software developer :?

That's why I went to the site anyway. Norton gets a little pushy with its warnings sometimes, but I usually rely on it.

There is a very similar site which a typo could lead you too which looks more suspect, and that is reached by mis-spelling indii.org and typing in indi.org
