which containers/codecs for Pro X3

Post by mangurian »

Is there a chart or list anywhere of what input formats X3 Pro accepts for editing. I don't mean anything as simple-minded as "wmv."
I need (for example)m "wmv h264 480 x 320"

Same thing for outputs (however, that can be fumbled for by going through the share options).

I use download converters to change on-line flash videos to editable formats. I used one of the more
popular downloaders to get a Youtube 1080p file and selected 1080 wmv as the output format.

I can play it, but X3 Pro will not accept it as a valid video format.

I really like X3, but getting some critical info is very hard to find or is unavailable.
Thank heavens for this forum, which augments poor on-line tech info. :D

Hi

There are thousands of video formats out there, each having many flavours, New formats are appearing every day with the introduction of new cameras/software etc.
So to compile a list that VS will support is not practical.

Most Wmv video formats are provided with the installation of Windows Media Player and Windows Media Encoder, Once installed Video Studio will be able to access and use them.

Video Studio provides a few options from Share Create Video File. Choosing the “Custom” option will allow you to select more templates/WMV Profiles. Viewing this option will give you some idea of the properties required.
Neptune Best Quality for standard frame sizes although HD profiles are also available.

Your sizes of 480 x 320 do not seem to list as standard sizes.

Make sure you have Windows Media Encoder series 9 installed -- though I suspect these days it is installed automatically as part of Windows 7.
