VS X2 -> MP4Set.ini Vista Logo?

Post by joeg »

Hi from Berlin,

I have a new Sony DSC-TX7 camera; it saves movies in MP4 format.

I've done LOTS of reading about VS and mp4 videos and have seen that there are various "half-solutions" for both X2 and X3 (which I've ordered but don't have yet).

For some reason, I was just looking through my VS X2 installation directory, where - much to my surprise -I discovered a directory called "MP4Set.ini Vista Logo". It contains a file called "MP4Set.ini", which appears to contains lots of presets for MP4 video and audio.

Can someone tell me, please, what this file actually does?

Thanks very much.

No I really don't know, however it is an Initialization file, that appears to be used for the MP4 codec. Since you don't know what the file does, I strongly recommend that you do not attempt to alter it. Doing so can cause the program to stop working.

Altering it never crossed my mind. I just wanted to know what it did - or was supposed to do - since X2 doesn't recognize MP4 video files.

By the way, in the meantime, I've got X3, and the problem has been solved. It works fine with the files from my Sony TX7.

Yes I've even noticed that there are some MPEG-4 compression schemes that VS X2 rejects. Prior to VS X3, I would run them through Super by erightsoft.com. Glad you have things working now..:)

Thanks, I'm happy, too.

The only problem with X3 is that it takes - literally - 2 minutes for the program to start. I can't understand it. Once it starts, though, everything is fine.

Yes, mine takes a while to open too. Since I know that I do something else rather than stare at the screen and tapping my fingers in anticipation, then come back when its ready.

Yes, but - if you'll excuse me - my system appears to be a bit "more powerful" thank yours.

To be honest, I have X3 installed on two machines, and for some crazy reason it opens a lot faster on the "weaker one".

All I was saying was that it's not "a problem". Since I know it starts slow I adapt to it.
