Good luck with Edius -- it is certainly not cheap! In the meantime, I have sent you an email with my email address... I am mystified why there is no email icon for me, right next to the PM one... There is on my screen...

Sorry - bad link above (note: apparantly for "Std" users VIMEO transcodes raw footage tow 720p after a week) but here is a forum for them http://vimeo.com/groups/native1920x1080 ... videos/rss
and here is a direct link to a native 1080/60p (US vers of the Cam) http://vimeo.com/groups/native1920x1080 ... s/15648089

Re: X3 & Editing 1080/50p Video
Agree, and sorry for the wrong info. I only red the HD writer manual some months ago, and I remembered that there was a problem. When now verifying again I see that 50p is OK but the problem is that you need the camcorder to write back the edited video to the SD memory first. So, I think Ken will not be able to edit and save 50p with the HD writer.

Re: X3 & Editing 1080/50p Video
And I'm afraid he's right...!
The Add method will not work to create a new template, and I tried it not only on the two computers on which I have X3 installed, but also X2 just to be sure. As jmone says, you only get the SD DVD default properties, which defeats me! Sorry...
So it seems that X3 simply curls up its toes at replicating the format, even though -- again as jmone says -- it can play it just fine...

1) "Copy from the Cam --> PC
2) Edit on the PC (without the Cam attached)
3) Save as a 1080/50p file to the PC just fine (no need for the Cam)

Hi Nathan
Regarding Direct X…try using the DirectX Redist (June 2010) option from
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/r ... FC422D1388
This should download a file, run the file to extract its content, save to a new folder on the desktop, then run DXSETUP.exe to install files.

Re: X3 & Editing 1080/50p Video
FYI - X3 transocdes and burns these files just fine to both DVD and Blu-Ray (converts down to half rate from the original file to 14.4Mbps 1920*1080 (16:9) at 25fps AVC (PAL) (High@L4.0)(CABAC/2Ref Frames)). Good to know that I can distibute the format on both DVD and Blu (I have a burner and blanks for both formats). Shame I can not use X3 to exit and save the original footage
in X3. So looks like I will have to for now:
1) Basic FIle editing in "HD Writer" and
2) Use X3 if I need to create a Disc (ether DVD or Blu)
Thanks
nathan

Re: X3 & Editing 1080/50p Video
FYI - I've had a play with a few other options (Edius Neo 3, CS5, Vegas) but it looks like the "best" so far for supporting exporting 1080/50 or 60p (with smart render ! ) is Cyberlinks new PD9 though it may have some issues (see http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/14176.page ).
I take it there has been no VS Update to handle outputing these files yet?
Thanks
Nathan
