In x2, in project properties, I could select "mpeg2" as the compression type, which would let me select a whole slough of resolutions.
In x3, it seems I can only select DVD pal or DVD ntsc, which of course are extremely limited for the resolution.
I'd like to be able to select 1280x720, for instance. I have old templates I saved from x2 that let me do it, but how else can I do it?
How do I select larger resolutions?

Select the Custom option.

The problem also is there when using the custom option--it's only giving me two options for compression in the compression tab, DVD pal and DVD ntsc--MPEG2 is grayed out.

Re: How do I select larger resolutions?
Corel in their "wisdom" got rid of the earlier choices in X3, so there is little you can do...
Mind you, I by and large have ignored project properties for many years. They don't change the final outcome unless you want a disc with exactly those properties. But even then you can change your output. So if you are after a 1280 x 720 output video and have that as you input video, you would choose Share > Create Video File > Same As First Clip (or Custom as suggested by Black Lab, though in relation to the Project Properties option...)

Re: How do I select larger resolutions?
So, they did cripple it.
I just bought X3 (I just upgraded from X2) in hopes for more options--and granted, the outputs I'm able to get are better, it actually handles MTS files correctly now--it doesn't assume it's a low resolution file now, so I'm glad for that, but it's just strange that they'd REMOVE options.
Luckily I can load old vsp files I made in x2 to get the same project properties I'm used to--but as you have said, I guess it's the output that makes all the difference.
Thanks so much for your response
