Just installed VideoStudio Pro X3 on my new computer. (I had a disastrous experience with roxio 2011). I created some DVD projects and made copies without problems. Everything seemed to be working smoothly until I tried to capture video from my Sony HDR-SR11 video camera. A Corel VideoStudio Pro error message appears and says, “Either no video capture driver is installed in this system, or no device is connected.”
The camera is connected to the computer using the USB 2.0 port. I am able to view the video from my camera on my computer using Windows Media Player, so I know the computer recognizes the camera just fine.
I just bought VideoStudio Pro X3 new from Amazon.com, so I assume the software is legitimate. I have installed the patches. I am showing version 13.6.2.21. Any ideas?
Here are the specs for my computer:
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
Hewlett-Packard Model: HPE-360z
BIOS Date: 07/24/10 13:52:14 Ver: 6.06

9216MB RAM
Available OS Memory: 9208MB RAM

Re: Video Capture Problem
How exactly were you trying to 'capture'? With an AVCHD camera like yours, its drive is treated like an external hard drive, and you in effect just transfer the files to your computer like you would from any other external drive. At a pinch, you could simply use Windows to transfer the files to your computer and then 'Insert Video" in VS to include them in your project...

Re: Video Capture Problem
I attempted to do that initially, but I only saw CPI files and I don’t know what they are. After reading your reply I took a closer look at some of the other folders that Windows showed for my video camera and found the AVCHD Video files in a folder marked “Stream.” Everything is good now, but it’s peculiar how the VideoStudio program does not recognize my video camera. Thanks for your help.

Re: Video Capture Problem
I had forgotten to mention that with AVCHD, we also normally recommend that you use the software which came with the camera to transfer the video to the computer. But I am glad that worked for you.

Re: Video Capture Problem
That is because you don't capture from your cam, as Ken said, so the programme reports no capture device connected.LtW0lf wrote: but it’s peculiar how the VideoStudio program does not recognize my video camera. Thanks for your help.
