Installing New Blue cartoon Filter

Post by Ken Veal »

With VS 11+ not running on XP Home I went to
http://www.newbluefx.com/cartoonr/ to download the New Blue Cartoon filter.
I Selected the Host Platform as Windows
In the free effects set up box VS was already selected
Destination folder was designated as prog files\new blue\ free effects for windows
In the New Blue Free Effects install Assist for VS box it said that the path would be
to the vft.plug (via prog files\UL Systems\ULVS11).
In my VS11+ vft_plug folder-- New Blue Cartoonr,vtf files 131kb and date modified 26 06 2010 showed..
But the filter is not there in the filter library of VS.Did not show on reboot either.I was not asked to register.
Where do I go from here. ………………Ken

New Blue Cartoonr,vtf files 131kb
Interesting. My Cartoon filter shows a size of 17 kb.

Also, did you look at the bottom of the filter list? Third party filters are placed at the bottom, NOT in alphabetical order.

You should have been prompted to register it. Also have you checked your control panel, add/remove programs? It should be listed in there. If so try uninstalling it, then reinstall. FWIW, I downloaded and installed it, and it looks for all versions of VS, and installed to all my versions I had installed, VS 11.5+, VS X2, VS X3.

I have uninstalled the filter file sized 32.6 MB and re registered 3 times, each time the filter has successfully downloaded, at no time as the filter appeared in the VS11+ filter library.I am at a loss about what to do now

Have you tried contacting New Blue?

Hi Ken

I have just installed the Cartoonr video filter from NewBlue without problems.

I downloaded the file and saved to my hard drive. (NewBlueFreeEffectsForWindowsSetup14.exe)

Running this file installed the filter.
During installation I was prompted to “Register”, this involved providing an E-mail address and password.
In response New Blue E-mailed me with an Activation Code (Cartoonr unlock key) which I used to activate the product.
The installation continued to Finish.

Did you receive this activation code via e-mail?

Curious. I just downloaded and installed the filter, and after registration it installed itself in all my VS versions that I have installed (though in X2 it only showed in 'New Blue Effects' and not All); as well as in my Adobe Premiere CS4 and After Effects...

after uninstalling the file again, although I have only asked new blue to install to VS11 (it showed VS 9 too) I thought I would uninstall VS9 just in case that was the cause of the problem.(I was not aware that I has VS 9 on the PC anyway.) When I tried to uninstall it an error message 5001came up"set up dll\cpp (439)pupp ulvs 9 pvendor ul systems".Then set up told me there was an error.Could this be anything to do with the present issue?

Hi Ken

I think you are just unlucky, how can a simple download cause such problems.

What Ulead/Corel products do you have installed?

Well it seems as though you have had VS 9 installed at some time.
May be removing this may help…………….
There are instructions for a clean installation, the first part is how to manually uninstall VS 9.

Although I would be tempted to perform a Clean Install of all my Ulead/Corel products.

Clean Install for VS 11

Just unlucky seems to sum it up.I have PSProX PI Album XL PI XL Cool 3D production studio UL Cool 360 UL Drop Spot and UL photo explorer.
I take on board what you say about uninstalling etc but I dont really want to go down that road yet because I know that will cause more agro, especially asit is only because of getting this filter

Ken

If you really need the cartoon filter I believe that FXBench from Burger Transition Site provided a similar option.
You could try that.
After applying the filter you have to select “customise” to select the filter types.
