Borderless image to fill A4 page

Post by Gin »

I can find no answer in the 'Search' utility so can anyone advise this novice?

I need to create a full A4 page image without any margins or evidence of any underlying white unfilled printed page, for the cover of a calendar. My attempts always end with a largish margin at the foot and lesser margins top and bottom- attempts to scale and instructing the printer to 'borderless print' don't work.

An acceptable alternative would be to produce a coloured 'card mount' effect with the image framed within as long as that mount filled up to all edges of the paper and may be better in fact for one of the images I have (yet to choose between the two)

I'm using phot glossy paper for the calendar so a similar finish is preferred but if my objective is unachievable I could use a coloured A4 card, as long as no white margins appear around the photo.

Any recommendations/advice please

If you're planning on printing this yourself you will need to have a printer that supports borderless printing and you will have to set the printer options correctly.
You will also need to crop or create the image so that it has the correct proportions. A4 paper is 210 mm x 297 mm (8.27 x 11.69 inches) and its aspect ratio is 1:1.414. This means that the wider side is 1.414 times the length of the shorter side. If your image has any other proportions it won't be able to fill an A4 page without distorting the image, 0r cropping the image, or leaving a border. A digital camera image will almost always have a different aspect ratio and will need cropping.
For good quality inkjet printing, you will need to have at least 200 pixels per inch. For A4 this means that your image must be a minimum or 1654 x 2339 pixels.
