Guys, im after some help here as im getting to my wits end.
Seems everytime that i try to create a video file to then subsequently burn to a dvd VS3 crashes during the create file/render process.
ive read most of the posts but im not sure if i have got the issue with my quciktime or not.
all drivers & patches are up to date
my system specs:
Operating System: vista home premium
32 bit or 64 bit: 64 bit
Motherboard: asus p6t deluxe
Processor: core i7 920
Ram: 6 gig corsair 1600
Video Card: nvidia gtx295
Sound Card: onboard
Hard Drive Capacity: 2 * 1tb drives WD Black
System Drive: c:
movie is taken on a canon HFS11. 115 clips, total time 1hr 6 min, project has transitions, title page and intro music included, but essentially a pretty basic movie. i removed any 3d transitions as i had heard that can cause issues.
I go to create file, it starts to create the file and then crashes.
here is the even log error ive got:

after this error, i started another project and put in just 4 of the clips, and was able to create a file ok. strange.
so i tried a brand new project, put in all of the clips, no title, no transitions, no editing to test. well the create file starts ok, renders to about 69% and then crashes still.
im stumped now. Is the length to much.
Appreciate any help you guys can offer.

Re: Video Studio Pro X3 Create Video File/Render error
Well, you gave us a lot of information, but not one crucial bit; namely, what format are you trying to render to?
Could you also confirm whether or not the crashes occur more or less at the same spot in the rendering process? If they do, then that would suggest that something is wrong with the original video around that spot.
And the length of your project should have nothing to do with it. That is in fact quite a normal length in virtually any format...

Re: Video Studio Pro X3 Create Video File/Render error
thanks,
im trying to create a dvd, so am i right in thinking thats mpeg2.
even thought the camera is capturing in avchd ( high def) i currently dont havea blue ray player and i dont hink my dvd player can play avchd formats, so thought it best to create a simple dvd file at this stage.
I do not believe its crashing at the same spot. has crashed at the start before rendering, half way thru, last nigth i got it to go to 69% as i sat there watching the whole time praying for it to work
Woudl this be whats causing the issue?

Re: Video Studio Pro X3 Create Video File/Render error
A lot of people with i7 processors appear to be having trouble with X3 not dissimilar to your own. IIRC, the suggested way of getting around these problems is to turn off hyperthreading in your system's BIOS before opening VS. You can then of course enable it again with a separate boot.
I don't have an i7, so can't say if it works or not. But hey, it's worth a try!

Re: Video Studio Pro X3 Create Video File/Render error
thanks.
youd think if this was the case that corel would hotpatch it, considering how many i7 users would be out there.
the advertising says that vs3 is optimized for core i7. i would have read this as them having tested numerous times on an i7, so cant see how this issue would have got through.
Are we sure this is worth a try, seems a lot of trouble everytime i want to use vs3 to have to change my bios.

Re: Video Studio Pro X3 Create Video File/Render error
Well, who would of guessed.
The hyperthreading was the culprit.
Thank you very much for your assistance.
So for those using a Core I7 chip and having crashes/hangs when trying to create a file or render a file - go into your Bios and turn of hyperthreading.
I now await Corel to hurry up with a patch to address this issue.
