I am playing a section of a project in Timeline view. The section is marked by the Trim Markers. Starts fine but then pauses/stops when it reaches the end of the accompanying music (an mp3) rather than at the second Trim Marker. Theses two points are different because the video fades to black as the music finishes. The video should continue to run for 2 or 3 seconds more with a black screen.
I've noticed that if I select the Sound Mixer and then play the section between the Trim Markers it works fine i.e. plays up to the second Trim Marker.
Also, it seems that if I create a video of the selected part of the project this works fine too.
I just seem to be getting the problem in Timeline view when I have black video that runs after an mp3.
I have checked multiple projects where I have the same effect (fade to black as music ends) and I am getting exactly the same problem. As the sound stops, so does the playback.
Background is that I am new to X3 and struggling. I had problems authoring in X3 so used X2,. Then had a problem with X2 so re-installed. Then found this problem when editing again in X3 so reinstalled X3!
Help! I am about to jump!

There are known problems with using some types of mp3 in VideoStudio - you might like to try changing the mp3 to a .wav file - could solve your problem

Re: X3 pauses during playback of project
Brian,
Never had any problems before and I've used music in my home videos a lot.
Didn't have any problems with this specific project until I did the X2 reinstall followed by the X3 reinstall.
I know that X2 and X3 are stand-alone but I'm wondering if any setting in X3 might have been impacted in some way?

Re: X3 pauses during playback of project
Yes, you may have not had problems before, however every now and then VS will bulk at some MP3 files. Have you tried several different MP3s to see if might just be one file? Did you get this MP3 file from a different place than you have in the past?
Also for the most part, different versions of VS will not have any affect on each other. There are some common files, that are shared. Most of the time they are left alone when you uninstall and reinstall. I have in the past experienced problems when I installed an older version after installing a newer version. VS11 seems to be the one most affected by this, and that has been limited to the flashplayer, where the Flash animation files would not play.

Re: X3 pauses during playback of project
Hi, Ron
Appreciate your help with this.
You and Brian were obviously thinking along the right lines as playing around with the mp3 seems to have fixed the problem.
I noticed that because I had reinstalled X3, my mp3 files were no longer showing in my Audio Library in X3. They still (of course) existed in my main music file on my computer but the link to the library had gone. This did not stop the mp3 playing in X3 but it did give me this glitch on 'fade to black'.
I have now re-established the link (simply putting the exact same mp3 back into my X3 Audio Library) and it plays fine.
Still not sure why I had the problem (which always unerves me a little) but most importantly I have a solution.
Thanks,
