Using DVD MF v7, the program captures video from DVD without audio.
Captured file on plays back properly outside of DVD MF v7.
Also in VS PX3, captured video has no audio too.
The audio on original DVD is AC-3 format.
Any clues appreciated. Thanks.

Re: No audio after DVD capture
Welcome to the forums,
Full, non-trial versions of both programs should not have a problem with AC-3 audio (Dolby).
What type of DVD, a commercial DVD, or personal that you or someone else burned, or one from a camcorder? If it is a DVD from a camcorder, what make/model of camcorder was used? If it was one that you or someone else burned, try copying the DVD to your harddrive, then try importing it to either program. IF that still does not work, try renaming the VOB files inside the VIDEO_TS folder to MPG, and try inserting them.captures video from DVD without audio.

Re: No audio after DVD capture
Just thinking off the top of my head, MF 7 SE cannot create a Dolby 5.1 output file, though it can produce a dual channel stereo Dolby clip. If your original DVD only uses 5 channel stereo, that could be the problem with MF 7 SE, though it would not explain why VS X3 is having trouble, unless, as Ron suggested, it is also an SE version. (SE versions are of course crippled, and usually distributed free. Since Dolby requires a licence fee for each use of its codec, software manufacturers are not going to be too generous with free versions for which they have to pay a licence fee. And I imagine that a licence fee for 5.1 Dolby is more expensive than dual channel stereo...)

Re: No audio after DVD capture
To Ron,
It is a homemade DVD created from DV tape to a DVD using a pioneer or sony dubbing machine. The original DV tape was created with Final Cut Pro v6. I am a registered user of MF7 Pro running on WIndows 7. After import from DVD, the mpeg file can be located on this computer. Using a media player, like VLC, the mpeg file's sound is good. " MediaInfo" programs reported that the audio was AC-3.
http://mediainfo.sourceforge.net/en
MediaInfo analysis of audio stream:
ID : 128 (0x80)
Format : AC-3
Format/Info : Audio Coding 3
Mode extension : CM (complete main)
Duration : 5mn 5s
Bit rate mode : Constant
Bit rate : 256 Kbps
Channel(s) : 2 channels
Channel positions : Front: L R
Sampling rate : 48.0 KHz
Bit depth : 16 bits
Video delay : -67ms
Stream size : 9.31 MiB (5%)
Will Corel service packs, patches or updates fix this problem?
Any clues appreciated. Thank you.

Re: No audio after DVD capture
They do have 2 service packs for DVD MF7, one addresses compatibility with Win7. DVD MF7 Service Packs
I would also download and install the ones for VS X3.
Service Packs for VS X3
BTW, we have a link to the Patches and Updates at the top of this forum...

Re: No audio after DVD capture
Thank you for email.
Service pack installation were installed to MF7 Pro but there still is no audio.
Video can be captured from home made DVD but there is no audio.
What is the next move? Please help. Thank you.
Question about Corel Service Packs:
After installing MF7 Pro service packs, does MF7 Pro display which service pack level?
MF7 Pro's"About dialogue box" does not seem to provide any information on Service Pack (SP) level.
For example, in Windows, after a service pack is installed, it is clearly indicated in the My Computer applet.
Is there an equivalent display in MF7 Pro?
