Cropping a ratio

Post by testerc »

Hello.

Is there a way with Paint Shop Pro to crop based upon a ratio?

In other photo editing products I have been able to click the crop icon, choose the ratio of the crop (for example, 2:3) and then I place the crop on the image and then adjust the size of the crop box by resizing it while maintaining the 2:3 aspect ratio.

Can this be done with PSP?

Thanks.

One straight-forward way to achieve this is to set up a crop rectangle with the required ratio, for example 3000 x 2000 pixels (or even say 3 x 2 inches), then check "Maintain Aspect Ratio" and then expand the crop rectangle to suit.

I keep my 'aspect ratios' saved as 'Presets' which are easy to save and then use. For example, I have 3x2 (Landscape) and 2x3 (Portrait).

Thanks, Tadjio.

That makes sense.

Your method should allow me to set a 2:3 ratio then crop and the and print 4" x 6"and 8" x 12" photos quite easily, I think.

Exactly :)

I have accumulated half-a-dozen such preets, including A4, Screen (1024x768) and Square.
