I used Total screen recorder to video my pc screen, the file is an AVI and the clip lasted 30 secs and the file size is 9.14mb.
I opened the uLead and added the 9.14mb clip to uLead added titles etc and created a video file.
I picked " custom " and used AVI and 1024 x 768 the same as the total screen recorder the rendered file came out at 2.4GB !
The quality is fine but need to add to youtube and need to make another which is 5 mins long so who knows how big that file will be ?

"AVI" is not a single format. It's a "wrapper" or "container" format and it can contain video in any format with any amount of compression.
You might have choosen uncompressed AVI???
The file size (in any format) is determined by the bitrate and can be estimated by:
File Size in MB = (Bitrate in kbps x Playing Time in minutes) / 140
(This requires that you know the average combined audio & video bitrate.)
