Two questions

Post by msutter »

Hello

I bought the Grabster AV250 from Terratec (http://videoen.terratec.net/modules.php ... le&sid=229) to copy movies from a harddisc recorder to my PC.
1. question: When i connect the harddisc recorder via s-video to the Grabster the Picture in "MovieFactory" is only in black and white. By connecting the recorder via the yellow Chinch Video out, the picture is in color but the quality is not good.
2. question: When i capture a movie in "MovieFactory" i set the format to "DVD - High quality". In the advanced options i choose "Video format: 704x576" (I am in Switzerland -> PAL). As soon as I klick "record now" the format switches back to 720x576 which results in a white line on the left side of the movie. The advanced settings are no longer active.

Thanks a lot for your help.

Regards

Matt

I just bought the Grabster AV400 and experienced the same problem.

I googled the web and came up with info that noted many European SCART plugs don't support s-video OUTPUT so I reviewed the documention for my TV. It seems the SCART contacts of both my JVC VCR/DVD player and JVC TV don't supply s-video OUTPUT (only INPUT), and the result is B/W on the s-video cable.

There's a document on the TerraTec site called
'TV-Cards and external Devices' that explains a bit of it.
(ftp://ftp.terratec.de/Documentation/TV_ ... ces_GB.pdf)
or get the German version if you wish. (Look under 'HelpFiles' in the sidebar).

[Unfortunatly they have security protected the .PDF so I can't copy/paste]
But it states:
"Should the S-Video cable not send the complete content (cable layout dependent) a black & white picture will result."
Check you player to see if it really has s-video OUTPUT (most don't!)
