Corel VideoStudio Pro X3 audio slows down

Post by kortmeyer »

when ever I bring a clip into the timeline and play it as a "Clip" the sound is fine. When I play it as a "project" the video plays normal but the sound is slowed way down out of sync. This problem carries over to the burned DVD also. Any thoughts at all would be appreciated.

Thanks

Welcome to the forums,

What are the properties of your Clip ? Please right-click on it in the time-line or Library, select Properties and post them here. Even with a Duo/Dual Core system, some video files such as AVCHD are too much for it. Back in the days of VS8, and 9, people would have OOS (out of sync) problems with MPEG-2 files, as it was considered a highly-compressed video format, intended for distribution only.

Xvid and DivX (they are about the same, one is free the latter not), are actually distribution formats. Both are highly compressed, and editing can result in out-of-sync problems. If you're going to burn them to DVDs, you may want to first convert them to DVD compliant MPEG-2. There's a free conversion program called SUPER, that should be able to convert them rather quickly. Once converted, you can then insert them into VS for editing.

The other thing you can do is not use Video Studio at all, but a program like Nero, and simply burn DivX/Xvid files to a CD or DVD as *data* files. Just about every DVD player these days can play DivX discs, so you don't need to go to the both of converting to video DVD mpeg-2 format. You also thus avoid any out of sync problems.

Thank you for your input, I have other software to burn with. My videos include video overlays, which is the reason I purchased Studio Pro. I race cars and have several cameras capturing various views. So I will just have to convert the files, no big deal, I think I have a batch file conversion program.

Thanks again

If I continue to have issues, I will return to the forum.

I'm not one to repost a normal question, so I figured I would revive this topic. I am having the same issues myself, but with recording PS3 games with KWorld DVD Maker 2. This is actually an old issue and I switched to Power Director 8 soon after.

Idealistically, I would rather use Corel Video Studio Pro x3, as I find it a more powerful program. Every time I record though using mpeg2 formatting (Youtube's preferred format), my audio is about 10 - 20 seconds out of sync with the actual video.

Recently, I have been researching this issue, as I just ordered Hauppages HD PVR 1212. I prefer not to use Power Director or HD PVR's recording package included. I want to start using Corel again. Is there any input on this matter? I saw it was an old issue with Video Studio 8 and 9.

I hope someone can give me some feedback. As for any recording specifications I use maximum bit rates, etc, for HD quality. Always record in MPEG2 as I said above.
