Light Rays

Post by daddog »

Gents,

I just purchased X3 after putting VS11 to rest. Years of good use. :)

Anyway as I work my way through the patches and other updates I come across the add for Newblue FX. Adding the light rays.
http://www.newbluefx.com/so/light_rays/
Watched the add and thought that might be fun to try. Has anyone else tried it and been pleased with how it works with X3 and the results?

Thanks in advance. :)

I've notice them, and while I'm tempted to purchase them, have not done so yet. When I first noticed this add, I thought it was for the Light Effects, which includes the Light Rays and several others, and probably would have purchased it immediately. However I can't justify that degree of expense right now.

With that said, I want to point out this thread I posted about trial versions of New Blue Effects... http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php ... 55#p192455
Basically if you choose to try the Light Rays plug-in, be prepared to re-install all versions of VS. Purchasing it should not have this problem though..

I too would be interested on anyone's experience with New Blues Light Rays. I like the lazer effect in the demo. Looks like it would work well with Titles as well.
$10 isn't too bad but I'm still a cheap skate at heart

And yes as Ron has warned I too fell for the trap and installed all the New Blue samples for trial and the only way to recover after the trial period was a complete re-install of VS.

Cheers

Hi Ron, :)

I have not used them yet in a project, but have played with them and IMHO it was worth the $9.95. Sooner or later I will use one of the options and will be pleased with the outcome. Each option has several controls to alter and tweek it to your liking. I had a couple questions early on and the support was quick to respond to my e-mails and answered my questions. I think more of it depends on what you do with your X3. If you are into special effects then I would say it was well worth it. If not then I would save the $. I am glad I made the purchase. :)

Below is a screen shot that may or may not be of use to anyone considering the purchase. I think they show as much on their home page.

I was able to add the Light Rays to VS and used it twice but after adding the New Blue Free Cartooner and moving the New Blue Film effects over from VSX2 I now cannot edit the effect when I add it to a video or photo.

I tried a brand new project with a default VS video and it still fails and crashes VSX3 as soon as I click the "Customize Filter" option.

https://docs.google.com/leaf?id=0B6qc5g ... ist&num=50

Typical. I just got everything where I like it in the program and it looks like I'll have to uninstall and re-install once again.
I haven't bothered contacting Corel as this is the only effect that fails and it is a NewBlue effect and not a Corel one.
Besides all they would tell me anyway was to re-install anyway.

Cheers
