I recorded a 3min20sec 1080/50i scene on my TM700 this morning. I tested on VS11.5+, no crashes (apparently..) rendered OK at first view, but finally (and very strange..) only 2min 46sec were "rendered" into an AVCHD file (.mpg). Another strange thing was that when playing back before "rendering" (after smart proxy was ready) in VS11.5+, it stopped playing after 1min34 sec, could be started through by hitting the play button, and stopped again after 2min68 sec and could again start through till the end. On VSX3 all went OK but only when a short HD testpattern was in front, otherwise rendering stopped, and the program locked up at 90%. But this strange thing with the 700 files I knew and reported before. But then...after futher verifying, playing...all of a sudden my computer restarted and showed a runndll32 defect which caused the win explorer to restart continously. After checking a couple of things (and using a simple keyboard!) I could manage to start in safe mode to remove the X3 and VS11.5+ files from my desktop. This solved the explorer continiously restarting situation. I don't know what exactly happened but first thing before any further playing with my 3min20 file wil be taking an image of my system disc, because what happened seemed to dangerous because my last backup dated a couple of months ago.

Wow... Erdna, thank you for your efforts on this one. So there is something funny going even in your setup although not the same as with me. So we know there are issues with the Panasonic 700 cameras with some users. I wonder if anybody has them fully working with VS. Or if there is a repeatable pattern in just what goes wrong so that we could find a way around it.

JohnDale, thank you for the detailed instructions. I quickly checked your sequence and I realise what I did wrong (was apparently using one of the DVD types rather than actual MPEG2 type ). I won't have the time to play around with any real clips today but I now have a way forward.

Best Regards,
