DVD Video Sound is out-of-sync

Post by philipbcook »

Using VideoStudio 8

I have a perfect video file TEST.MPG which has format

PAL DVD
MPEG-2 Video, Upper Field First
24 bits, 720 x 576, 4:3
25.00 Frames / sec
VBR (max 7000 kbps)

MPEG Audio Layer 2
48000 Hz, 16 bit, Stereo
Layer 2
384 kbps

The sound and video is in sync, played using WinAMP, PowerDVD, or when viewed in VideoStudio 8.

When I create a DVD or just the DVD folders on my hard drive, then the sound and video are about 0.5-1 sec out of sync.

Any ideas what I am doing wrong. This is the first DVD in nearly 50 I have created and never seen the problem before. It is driving me nuts.

I have just upgraded to V8.1. I de-installed and reinstalled the basic V8.0 but have the same problem now with both. Could something be wrong with V8.1 and I have not removed all its settings. Short of wiping my machine and re-installing I am stumped.

Help ..

OOS Problem

Post by philipbcook »

OK I have restored my system to its former performance.

Procedure was ..

1. Use uninstall for Ulead V8
2. Delete C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio 8.0 folder and content
3. Delete C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ulead Systems folder and content
4. Install VS8 from original CDs
5. DO NOT install the upgrade packs

My problem seeems to have stemmed from installing the V8.1 upgrade which added some upgraded DVD burning code. I never had the OOS problem before V8.1 and now I have gone back to V8.0, the problem is history.

THAT MOTTO needs to be etched in my monitor frame where I will see it every day! I swear IT'S A DISEASE to always want to try out something new, in spite of the fact that every single step of video editing is working perfectly for me. I keep learning the lesson over and over and over.

See a detailed description of the problem by "alosada" on 12 May 2005 regarding Audio Video sync problems. It appears to be caused by certain versions of the burning engine and the upgrade to 8.1 has a faulty engine.
Alterntive solution is to download and install the trial version of UVS9 which will overwrite the burning engine in the common files with a working version. Installing UVS9 fixed my problems with UVS8.
