PureHD.msi Installer Issue FIXED!

Post by Tasana-Studios »

Hi all;

As with all computer related issues it is difficult to tell if a fix is truly a fix until more users try it. But I have seen many post with pureHD.msi trying to install after installing X3. The link in this post

Takes you to a reply from Corel that simply states (send us the error we are working on it) Then they have you uninstall the program and reinstall. Not a 100% fix. I have been working on computers since 1982 and hopefully this is a simple fix.
When you do a computer wide (including hidden files) search for pureHD.msi you will not find it. So the only other place an installer can hide is the registry.
Here is the fix I used on my own system, running XP Home.
You will have to go into the registry, be VERY carreful but you can do this. Just do not get happy in the registry.
Click START>RUN
in the run box type "regedit" without the quotes.
When the registry window opens (if this is the first time for you to see the registry do not go deleting at whim. Just because you see a weird entry does not make it bad.) go to the menu at top and click
EDIT>FIND
In the FIND box type "pureHD.msi" without the quotes.
This is very very important, you are only looking for the pureHD.msi installer, you will see a lot of entries for pureHD DO NOT touch these.
Once you have typed "pureHD.msi" into find hit ENTER.
It will find the value in a key (The key is the folder on the left half of the window the value is on the right half). In that key will be three value entries the third one will be "pureHD.msi" highlight it and then press the DELETE, it will ask you to confirm, choose ENTER or click YES.
The value right above it is the temporary location of that key. In my system I did not delete it, but it also needs to be deleted, after I rebooted I discovered it too needs to go. I would not delete the whole key as VS may need the key but not the value. So in that key delete values 2 & 3.

This is all clear as mud right? Thought so.
If anyone has trouble I will post some screen shots.
Well back to editing.
