Feature Transfer error

Post by pkdubai19 »

hi all,
i downloaded Corel Videostudio pro X3 trial form Corel's Website
but when i try to install it then one warning will appear on the screen. It installed until about First way and then gives me this 'feature transfer error' at the same point everytime.

Here is what it says...

Feature Transfer error

Feature: DefaultFeature
Component:
File:
Error: Catastrophic failure

I don't know what a catastrophic failure is, but it really makes me nervous. It doesn't sound healthy in the least, so please if someone could offer me assistance. Thanks for your time.

I apologize for the delay in getting any replies.. ,

While I don't know why or what caused this error while installing, it is not something that would damage your computer. Catastrophic failure just means that something failed to install so the program terminates the process.

Somethings to try..
1. Make sure that your operating system (WinXP) is up to date with all the patches and SPs (Service Packs).

2. If you haven't recently updated your Direct X drivers, please go HERE and download the latest version of the DirectX End User Runtimes. The most current release is dated June 2010. The file is quite large, around 95 MB. Before you run the file, first create a temp folder to extract the contents of that file into. I just call the folder for example June 2010 DirectX. When you run the downloaded file it will extract 100+ files, so you will want to have a separate folder for them, and once you're finished you can delete this folder and all those files. Once the files are extracted, look for a file called DXSETUP.exe in that folder, and run it. That will update your DirectX drivers.

3. Open your Events logs and check for an error from this attempted installation. Simply right-click on the My Computer icon, select Manage.

4. Ensure that you're installing to an account that has Administrative Permissions.

5. Check to see if Windows or other Firewall program is blocking it

6. While installing try disabling your antivirus program. Just remember to enable it once you've completed installing.

Not to complicate the issue, but I'm having the exact same problem. So what is the solution ?
