This just started happening a few days ago, no matter what I do I get an "Unspecified Error" when trying to create disk.
I'm using the exact same files I was last successful in creating a DVD with, but want to tweak some menu items, no I can't do anything with these files or any others.
Does anyone have any idea what the problem is?

Re: "Unspecified Error" in DMF7Pro
I am now able to get it to go a bit further by cleaning out the temp directory?
No I get the following error
---
Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Runtime Error!
Program: .....DVD MovieFactory 7\Corel DVD MovieFactory 7\DVDMF.exe
This application has requeted the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.

Re: "Unspecified Error" in DMF7Pro
The two errors seem to alternate. What is really weird is if I turn "ON" Motion Menu, it works? I would think the opposite could cause such a problem.

BUMP Re: "Unspecified Error" in DMF7Pro
Does anyone have any ideas? I've opened ticket with Corel but have yet to hear back, their last solution when I had problems with version 6 was to uninstall all Apple products. Which never worked, so I'm not very hopeful they will have a solution for this one.

Re: "Unspecified Error" in DMF7Pro
Can you check the event viewer after the crash happens?
Click Start | Select Run | Type: eventvwr.msc | Select OK | Select Application
- Browse through the error messages and then post the description on the forum, this might give us some insight as to what is causing the error.
Make sure you have the latest video card driver installed from ATI.com
- Can you check to see what the current version you have installed by checking in the Direct X Diagnostic Tool
- Select Start | Select Run | Type: dxdiag | Select OK | Select the Display or Display 1
- On the right hand side you will see the date and the version of the driver, can you please post the driver information that you currently have installed?
Update Direct X
- Use the Direct X End-User Runtime Web Installer, use the link below:
- http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/d ... layLang=en
What type of files are you using in the project?
Let me know if any of this helps

Re: "Unspecified Error" in DMF7Pro
I am able to recreate the error consistently; In response to the last message
What type of files are you using in the project?
I've used many different video formats, all of the files I have tried have worked under previous versions of DMF. The latest test ones are mpeg2 compliant video captured via my Hauppauge card.
What is strange is if I turn on "motion menu" then it works like a charm.
I tried to contact Corel, they opened a ticket and then they just arbitrarily closed it but I didn't know so I was responding to their initial questions and I found today (after 5 weeks) that nothing I had sent them ever got attached to the ticket.
As for the other steps
1) Event Viewer - Click Start | Select Run | Type: eventvwr.msc | Select OK | Select Application - Browse through the error messages and then post the description on the forum, this might give us some insight as to what is causing the error.
No Messages logged when DMF7 crashes in any of the event viewer categories
2) Update ATI driver
This will impact a few other things, so this is my last step, I will try this next.
3) Update Direct X - Use the Direct X End-User Runtime Web Installer, use the link below: - http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/d ... layLang=en
Done Did not resolve the problem

Re: "Unspecified Error" in DMF7Pro
I have figured out the exact settings that cause the "unspecified error"
Irregardless of all other settings and video types, if in Step 2 you remove "Background Music" and un-check "Motion menu" I will get the "unspecified error" every time.

Re: "Unspecified Error" in DMF7Pro
Thank you, rjesse! I was under a serious deadline and encountered this issue. I found another thread that suggested this may be caused by overlapping elements in the menu, but I checked and mine was fine. After over an hour of struggling with this, I found your post and had, in fact, done both of those things. Still not wanting music, I simply re-checked the motion menu and set it to a 1 second motion. It worked like a charm!
I appreciate your sharing this and can confirm that this was the solution to my Unspecified Error.
