Put the video in the timeline

select the 'Edit' stage (tab at top)

click on the video to highlight it - move timeline cursor to begining of piece to be removed - use scissor tool to cut video

Move cursor to the end of the piece to be removed - again use the scissor tool to cut the video

click on the piece of video to be removed so that it is highlighted - hit the delete key - video gone

from your library drag and drop the new piece of video over the join - there will not be a space but the video will move apart when you drop the new piece in.

Click on the 'Share' tab at top - down page select - "Create Video File" - follow procedure to make a new file with the new piece of video in it.

There are other methods - this is the one I prefer - any further questions please ask.

In that case you want to use the Split Audio function on the first clip. That will put the audio portion of it in the audio track.

OR - there's always more than one way of doing things.

leave the video and sound in the top track exactly as it is - then put the new piece of video in one of the overlay tracks at the position you do not want to see the original video - set the option to fill the screen - mute the sound of the overlay (new) piece of video - then Share >> Create Video File to render a new video file.

Anything in the overlay track appears on screen instead of the top track

That's always been a bug-a-boo with me. The tracks are upside down! The overlay tracks should appear above the video track. I think doing so would make it easier to "see" (i.e. understand) how it works.
