Should I install SP1?

Post by Iggy Blue »

Hello. I recently purchased (via download) VideoStudio Pro X3. After installation & reboot, I opened the program. At this point I was prompted to download DVD MovieFactory, which I did. After reboot, I opened VideoStudio. I was half-expecting the software to prompt or auto-update, but, as far as I can tell, it did not do so.

Is this normal? The reason I ask, is that I see that there is a Service Pack available for download on the Corel site. Does my software installation already include this service pack (seeing as I installed via download rather than a boxed version)? How can I know if I have SP1? When I check my version info within the software, I see that I have version 13.6.2.36.

Am I up-to-date?

Thanks.
Iggy.

The numbering is all very curious. My version is 13.6.2.21, and I know definitely that I have all the updates/patches...

Thanks Ken. I double-checked my version number just now, and it is indeed as I indicated. Also, I just checked for updates, and it says that no updates are available. Did you install SP1, and if so, did you learn about it through updates or did you have to self-install from the Corel site?

Thanks again.

Very definitely have SP1, and was prompted for it -- plus two other updates -- by a pop-up in X3 rather than going through the Do More/Get More route. They only appeared on this computer a week or so ago after I set it up. (I have recently switched countries, and had to wait till my household goods, including computers, arrived.) I thought the pop-up idea was a good idea... Mind you, I haven't seen anyone else refer to having received them... though could be mistaken on that. At least I cannot recall having seen any extensive discussion by others who may have received them...

I have just checked on another computer which also has X3 on it, and it too is version 13.6.2.21, and I am pretty sure that that has all updates/patches, though not all the Get More style packs which recently became available.

Just bought X3. Not sure if I need Service Pack 1 or not. :|
How did you fellows find your version number? I have peeked around and can't find one. When I do how could I tell if I need the Service Pack 1 and the other two updates listed here.

Click on the Help & Product Information icon (down arrow in dots, upper right), which opens the Corel Guide. Now click on the Product Information & Preferences icon (looks like 2 gears), a menu will appear, select About Corel VideoStudio Pro X3.

If you haven't downloaded and installed them, then you should. You can check to see if you have by looking in (Vista) the folder C:\ProgramData\Corel\Downloads\540228697_517034. There may be several other folders, you need to look in each one for the download file VSProX3_Patch.exe.

Thanks Ron. :)

I am confused (nothing new) about the correct links.
If you go here.
http://www.corel.com/servlet/Satellite/ ... 3525892469
It says it is Service Pack 1, but if you continue and actually download it the file is called Service Pack 2. :?:
Is their a Service Pack 1 link out there?

That is confusing. I would say it's a misprint on their website or, they may have combined anything that was in SP1, into SP2, thus requiring the download and install of a single SP.

Well I am not sure of the order to install these, but I figured I would post them up and maybe it will help someone else down the line.
VSX3SSPatch = TSK2642
VSX3MLEPatch = TSK2644
VSX3Patch2 = TSK2618

I installed 2618, then 2644 and finally 2642. No idea if it matters or not.
