May be only the programmers know and aren't telling, but I see that multi-core processors are really fast with multi-threaded applications, though slower with single-threaded apps. My guess is that the program is multi-threaded, although what gain there is for a dual core, quad core, and now a 6 core, isn't clear to me. Since one day I will upgrade my processor, it would be interesting to know.
