auto opening

Post by Roy99664 »

When I insert My camera's memory chip into the chip reader, PSP automaticaly opens. How do I get it to not open auomaticly. I would rather it not open unless I want use it. I'm using Pro X3 and Windows 7.

Thanks

I may not be of much help here but I can only think of two reasons it would open Paint Shop Photo Pro X3.

1)Corel's own Photo Downloader opens PSPX3 for you

2) You have Windows set-up to open PSPX3 automatically when it detects photo media

Options for Fixing These Possibilities

Possibility #1)

Do you use Corel's Photo Downloader? If so check the default settings (right-click on the icon in you system tray and select Default Settings from the context menu) at the bottom it gives you options for when it finishes downloading the pictures. If this option is set to open Paint Shop Pro then that's a likely reason. But that's only a possibility if you're using the Photo Downloader and PSPX3 is only opening after the pictures have been downloaded. But you didn't indicate that at all so I don't think it's this one.

Possibility #2)

The other option is your Auto-Play settings. To change these go to your Control Panel and find the Auto Play settings.

If your Control Panel is set to Category view then select Programs -> Default Programs -> Change Auto-Play Settings

If your Control Panel is set to display All then simply select Auto-Play from the list of icons.

Find the appropriate media type (Pictures) and change the setting from Paint Shop Photo Pro X3 to "Ask me every time" or "Take no action" or whatever you want Windows to do automatically.
