I am trying to install X3 from the downloaded software that I purchased. The installation gives me a non-specific error, then stops. I am including a picture of the error message.
I am on Windows XP SP3 computer. Any ideas?
Of course it is the weekend, so no help from the tech support folks till Monday. Hoping someone here could help.
Thanks in Advance!

Re: X3 Installation Error
I wish I had an answer for you. I haven't used XP for a few years now. Do you have Service Pack 3 installed? We had to uninstall SP3 on our XP computer. When SP3 installed it appeared to wipe the entire hard drive of everything that wasn't the actual operating system, but system restore brought it all back. We weren't prepared for that and I never tried to reinstall it.

Re: X3 Installation Error
Did you have your virus program running during the install.
Might want to check you Event Viewer and see which module cause the fail.

If you look here:
"http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&so ... =&gs_rfai="
then you will find many entries and suggestions. It could be the download file itself, XML, DirectX, graphic card driver.

Re: X3 Installation Error
Thanks for all the suggestions. I did retry without Norton running or Malwarebyte running, made sure all my drivers and Directx was up-to-date, etc. When nothing seemed to help, I finally got a hold of the nice folks at tec support and they believe my original download might be corrupt, so I am off to download again.
