Capture video from TV card with VS2010 or ProV3
I am trying to capture video from my VCR through the TV card in my PC. The card is an SA7130 analog TV card. Neither Video Studio 2010 or Pr0V3 will allow me to assign a channel for reception of the signal. The channel I need is 3. VS 2010 is locked on channel 0 and VS ProV3 is locked on channel 1. Neither will budge. Any thought that it might be my TV card went away when I tried the capture using an old version of Ulead VS and it worked perfectly. Also, regular TV feeds through the VCR just fine to the PC through the TV card. Anybody have any good ideas for me? I'd really prefer to use the newer versions of Video Studio rather than the limited featured Ulead (32 bit) version.

The general rule is to use the capture software that came with the hardware. In your case, you can capture with the old version of Video Studio, and then with the newer version.

I agree with DVDDoug, try to capture using software that came with your capture device or what has/is working for you. It's just a matter of getting the video to your PC, then inserting it into VS.
Since VS11, when Intervideo acquired Ulead, VS has failed to capture analog video. It has to do with the capture plug-in being changed to their own proprietary IVI capture plug-in. Since you are capturing from a VCR, this would indeed be an analog video. About the only workaround would be to use some other software that you know does work to capture it to your PC.

Thank you, Gentlemen. Did I overlook the caveat from COREL about the inability to capture analog video before they took my money? I wonder why they still show the capability in the program if it doesn't function. I'm just saying.........

Just to make the point, none of us here work for Corel. We are users like you who have been using the various products for years, and now try to help out where we can... And believe me, we have been complaining about the stuff-up with analogue captures since it first appeared with VS11. And do you think Corel has taken any notice of us either???

I have always maintained the view that the TV capture ability of any Video Editing Software is simply included for the purposes of providing an "all round one does all program".ActionJackson wrote:Thank you, Gentlemen. It is always best to use the appropriate software for the job in hand.
TV capture - use the TV Capture software that comes with the TV Card.
Sound Editing - export the sound track, open it up in an audio editor such as audacity and do your sound editing.
DVD Burning - initially burn to a hard drive folder then give it that final quality control check with a software DVD player (Nero, WinDVD, PowerDVD etc.) THEN burn the hard drive folder with your favourite software (Nero, CopyToDVD etc.)
