Sounds like you got your foot caught in a really big bear-trap! It very much sounds like you have or have had a Virus on your computer, new or not.

Module Name: sonicmpgvout.004 sounds very similar to the sonicmpgvout.dll. Have you been playing or trying to create MPG files in GA?

The sonicmpgvout.dll is not a GA File, it belongs to another application, I assume sonicmpgvout.004 is a configuration file or related to Sonic MPG Player software. If so, this may be the default software that came with your computer, unless you have installed this software since purchase.

If you did, uninstall the MPG Player, if not you will have to get tech support from the maker of your Computer and find out why their software is not working.

You should do a File search for sonicmpgvout.dll and see if it still remains on you computer, as it may have been damaged, or renamed. Go here to get a new dll:

 I bought a racing car once, never won a race with it, in fact, it had this stupid gear shift thingo that nobody could work out how to use. I'm never going to buy another race car from this maker (brand withheld) because it has not been updated since it was built and, the startermotor was from 1987, way too old for todays high tech age.

Sounds familiar? I'm getting sick and tired of people that do not know an exe file from a dll but bag some software because they cannot, in their unlimited ignorance, get it to work. There is certainly something wrong, not only with ULEAD software, it gets sold to anyone to put on any machine out there, regardless of set up and spec's. And if it does not work faultlessly right from day one, it's the stupid software vendors that do not do their job properly. Go figure

No, don’t delete the files, leave the files alone as they are part of Dells setup for the DVD player, don’t disable or remove them or you will disable your DVD.

However, from the images you have provided, there is a miss between the three files sonicmpgvout.dll, one is 15 K in size, and the other two are 9 K in size. The difference could be causing the error problem you are receiving about the sonicmpgvout.004 file.

Without knowing which EXE file is using which sonicmpgvout.dll file I can not say what you should do at this time. You should Call Dell and tell them of the error messages and the differences in the three sonicmpgvout.dll files you have found. They will be able to tell you whether the newest file is an update, and should be kept or deleted and overwritten with one of the older files, or vice versa. Don’t do this yourself!!

You still have not told us what software you would recommend in place of GA.

Now is the time to voice your opinion!

Yes, I was an old programmmer, but for DOS and Windows 3.1, I too am "Ancient History!"
As I couldn´t try Ulead Gif Animator (crashing and crashing) and don´t know nothing about how it works, I wanna suggest for now:

a) Corel Animation Shop 3

Animation Shop has high-quality easy-to-use creative effects, features, and optimization options for Web graphic designers of every level. Whether used as a standalone application or as a complement to Paint Shop Pro, Animation Shop gives you the ability to easily create buttons, banners, and other cool animations.

Here:

b) Selteco Bannershop GIF Animator

Bannershop GIF Animator goes far beyond simple GIF Animation application. You can animate texts, images and simple shapes and apply animation effects with a single mouse-click. Bannershop introduces Master Frame concept that significantly simplifies creation of complex documents.

Gosh! I don’t know if your heart can take this or not! I have All of Corel’s software; I would have to agree with you on the Corel Animator.

:D Hey, meupc, with all those programs, you should just be running shouldn't you. You should also not have any problems then either. Why do you keep stealing our time, I wonder

upon loading gif animator, video i/o drivers are loaded. the sonic ones you have may be conflicting. you can try this...however you will lose the ability to create video files from your projects. go to c:\program files\ulead systems\ulead gif animator 5\vio and change the extensions for the files in this folder from .vio to .old or .bk and try opening gif animator. good luck. 8)

You never did mention what was causing the crash you were experiencing with GA. I saw your post about the AVI files, and wondered if you saw the post for the Autoexec.NT file, as a bad NT file is responsible for GA crashing during Installation. Check out the GIF Animator 4 post by Amidala, it might be of help to you also, as it applies to GA 5 for some computer users.
