I have a video(358Mb about 5mins long,4:3 ratio, 640 by 480,9213 data rate, 9301 total bitrate, 29fps, recorded off a sony cybershot camera). I am trying to cut it down a little using corel video studio pro X3(just trimmed off the 1st 5 secs and last 5 secs and added a title to it). I have done a few before, but now I am having problems with the audio, 2mins into the clip the audio just stops. I have tried several diff ways of creating or saving the video file(WMV 720hd, WMV broadband, etc) with no luck. Can someone please let me know what i am doing wrong. Also I notice that for the length of my videos they are big files. I can download a DVD that 2hours long 700mb and its crystal clear. But my videos are 10 mins or so and 700MB, and quality is good. How can I make them smaller and still clear like all the other movies i download. Thanks in advance for any ideas or help.
Using Windows 7

Hi
Welcome to the forum
First of all can you fill in your profile to include your correct pc details.
You have provided some size details but can you tell us what type of video file you are using.
Right click a clip and select properties, what are they?
As for size that depends on what you are going to make, a standard DVD would be 4.3 Gb for one hour, so your 2 hour 700Mb is very small. I doubt it will be crystal clear if made into a DVD.
Your 5 minute clip is using 9213 kbps, a size used for DVD, 358Mb is about the right size for this clip.
Audio,
If you were to play the clip in Windows Media Player do you have the sound problem?

I can only second Trevor's request for further information, including about your system properties. Thge profile is not just there for fun or meaningless entries. Often, a user's problems are related to their computer architecture, so we have to know how your computer is set up, what its components and capacity is etc. So using the suggested BelArc Adviser to find these out is really quite important.
Second you say you download a 2 houjr 'DVD8 and it takes up only 700 Mb. In fact, I think you are confusing terms -- though again we have no details to confirm this. But what I think you mean is that you download a movie -- which is available commercially on a DVD -- and it only takes up 700 MB but is crystal clear. This suggests to me that you have downloaded, not a DVD, but a DivX movie. These use the very compressed mpeg-4 codec/DivX. But they use different types of audio, and I think this could be at the heart of your problem. So again, as Trevor suggested, right click on one of the original files and copy ALL its properties here please...

Re: Newbie-Sound cuts out in middle of clip....
Thanks for the help. The video i am working with says Video Clip (.AVI) when i right click and look at the properties. After I create the new video file and than play it with windows media player or my VCL player it does the same thing, works fine until 2mins in, than the sound just stops playing.

Hi Dakota
Avi is not a video type but a container holding the video data, which can be varied using different compression types. So more detail was required not only regarding the video compression but the audio type…………….
But after your reply, if the video shows similar playback problems using different means then the video may well be corrupt or just not have audio at that point. So re-creating the video is just gonna copy the problem.
And your pc profile:-Are you having problems finding this information?
