Remove green text

Post by cocoon »

Hi every one!!

I am starting with corel video studio x3.

I am preparing a video from my last hollidays, I was doing a real good job, but, suddenly, some green words appears on the top left of the vídeo.
They are the vídeo and codec descriptción such as

Input description: H264
Input size and ascpect ratio: 1280x720 16/9
Output description: RGB 24 flipped
Movie FPS: 29,97
Current frame: 0
Frame type: I
Frame mean quantizer: 21.57
Input bitrate: 0 kbps

Can anyone, please, tell me, how the heck can I do in order to those words not appear in the vídeo?
If I watch the vídeo with any player in windows, I do not see those words, so it is something that comes from the videostudio

Thanx a lot in advance!!

Welcome to the forums,

Does this happen when you are capturing/transferring, or previewing? If the latter are you previewing in Clip or Project mode? Check to see if you have checked Display DV timecode on Preview Window, found in the Preferences settings (Settings>Preferences or F6 on your keyboard). I've never seen or heard of VS displaying all that information. It will however display the timecode for DV, while previewing in clip mode. However this information is not burned into your video, does not become part of your finished production.

VS will not, as a normal function display any such information for any other video formats, such as MPEG, MOV, or WMV. Where did this video clip originate? What means did you use to transfer/capture it to your PC?

Hi Ron P!!

And thank you for the faaaast answer :D

I have a new digital videocamera recorder. It is a Toshiba Camileo, I do not remember the exact model, when I get home this afternoon I tell you.
It records the vídeos in a SD card, they are AVI, and the codec used is H.264, it records up to full 1080 HD, but the vídeos I took are 720 (HD ready).

I just copied the vídeos from the SD card to my Hard drive and then imported them into the project, and finally I did drag them to the timeline.

If I just preview (in videstudio) the videos, by double clicking them when they are not yet in the timeline (after I imported then into the project) they already have the green info.

I tried yesterday to import a movie that is not taped with the videocam and it also has that green information :?

I am almost 100% sure, that the green info appears as well in the previewing as in the project mode.
If I finally create or burn a video the final production DOES display this info, I mean it is part of the final video.

When I get home, I will try what you tell me of "Display DV timecode on Preview Window", and as well I will get a screenshot so you can see what I tell you

Again, thanks a lot!!

Cheers

Hi !!

Here are the screenshots:

Image

Click on them to make them bigger, once they are bigger, click once more on them to make them even bigger, so get as big as they are, I have a 22 inch screen

As you can see in the first time, you can see the green text not only in the preview zone, but also in the thumbnails (where you import the videos) if you make them big enough. I surrounded the green text with pink.

The second screenshot is when I maximized the preview player.

I tried with the trick of disabling the display the timecode for DV, while previewing in clip mode, and nothing happens, even more, I had it disabled at the begining

Thanks again!!

PS: I think I will try uninstalling and reinstalling videstudio and see what happens...

This is real strange, because if the text is showing on the video clips in the library, that indicates that the text is burned into the video, not just being over-layed. The reason I suggest that, is those are just thumbnail links to the original clips on your system. Check your camera for a setting/option for displaying that information. Most of the time, when that is set in the camcorder, the camcorder burns it to the video.

On the flip side, why other playback software does not show this, is a mystery. Run a short test, render one of your video clips, doesn't need to be long, using VS. Then use one of your media players to see if the rendered video displays the information.

Hi again Ron!

I think, just think, I have just found out what is happening, I cannot tell for sure, because I am not at home, but as soon as I get there, I will tell you for sure.

But, I have just been searching in google "remove green text" just to try if my post here was found by google (wasting some time...). Well, google, found it (by the way) but it found some other interesting threads from other forums, such as this one: http://forum.bsplayer.com/general-talk- ... -load.html

Where someone asks about the same green text, not in videoStudio, but in some videoplayer, and someone tells him:
Case closed, ffdshown OSD was the guilty one. Thank You Peter and keep up good work :D
As you will know, ffdshown is some kind of plugin used by the codec, and it rings a bell, maybe I did something there with the OSD (On screen Display)
I am 98% sure, that will be the problem, but anyway, I will tell you as soon as I get home and try.

NOW, why does not it show when I use my player (the player I use to watch movies / videos in my computer) well, nice question, I think it is because I use SPlayer (Not BSPlayer) and it uses its own internal codec, the ones where I did not change any configuration, but videostudio might use the ones I changed, I think K-Lite codec pack.

Finally, it is not an issue with the program corel videostudio, but this info could be nice to someone with the same problem.

Thanks a lot for your time and knowledge!!
