i recently imported a .mov file with recorded audio onto the timeline. if i split the audio so that it appears on the voice track, the program gives me an errror message and shuts down. the only way the program does not shut down is if i mute the audio track while it is still part of the video track. The problem is clearly the audio file. Has anyone else experienced this?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Re: problem with audio captured during video capture
Some things you can try -
You probably need to convert the audio and/or video to a different format. The less-compressed formats tend to be the most trouble-free.
Before editing, try saving the file with uncompressed LPCM (WAV) audio*, then re-open and edit the new file. (If your goal is to make a DVD, you can try converting the file to MPEG-2 with LPCM audio before editing.)
Try creating an audio-only WAV file (I think you do this by clicking the Share tab an selecting Create Audio File.) Then import the audio-only into your project and mute the original audio.
You can use SUPER (FREE!!!) to extract the audio and create WAV file, and/or you can use "stream copy" for the video and "disable audio" to strip the audio out of your MOV file. (Or, SUPER can convert your MOV file to DVD-compatible MPEG-2 with either Dolby or LPCM audio... If you're editing, it's best to stick with uncompressed audio 'till you're ready to render to the final format.)
* I'm not sure what audio options you have with MOV, and I don't have VS on this computer.
