Aspect ratio and .MOV
I am not familiar with .mov and QT files, but when I want to create (or batch convert) an AVCHD (16:9) file to a .mov file in VSX3 it is always Frame Based and there is no way to set the 16:9 format (grayed out in Options). I really have to set a number of horizontal and vertical pixels (like e.g. 1280x720) in order to keep the right aspect ratio. Is this normal?

Hi
Yes this is normal
When you set 1280 x 720 you are using a frame ratio of 16:9, use a calculator to check the ratio.
Frame Based has nothing to do with the actual size or shape of the video frame, but the way each frame is displayed.
For web/internet viewing the video will be frame based.
For TV viewing the standard definition video will be interlaced, Upper or Lower field order.

... for for true 1080p (for progressive) HDTVs, frame based will display the same as progressive whole frame-by-frame video...For TV viewing the standard definition video will be interlaced, Upper or Lower field order.

Re: Aspect ratio and .MOV
I know that FB has nothing to do with AR, but I only wanted to mention (with an example) that MOV files cannot be set as e.g. anamorphic with e.g. 720x576 and 16:9 selected. I really need to set 1024x576 if I want 16:9 with MOV
And indeed Ken, on a Flatscreen TV it will result in progressive anyway .The point is that QT de-interlaces the AVCHD original, and I wonder how performant this is done as opposed to my flatscreen's de-intelacing performance.
