smartsound - I am at a loss

Post by mangurian »

I have no idea how to insert a smart sound in my video.

The user's guide says to insert a smartsound - THANKS.

where are they ???? Which clips are "smartsounds"

I have installed SmartSound Common Data, Quicktracks 5, and Quicktracks Plugin.

Is there a video tutorial showing someone using smartsounds ?

Welcome to the forums,

SmartSound is found on the Auto Music tab. There's several video tutorials found in our Tutorials forum of the web board. Here's one about working with audio.. http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php ... 15#p196186

progress, but "Add to Timeline" ghosted out...

Post by mangurian »

I found the options and played a 15 second sample.
The problem is that "Add To Timeline" is ghosted out. (see image)

the problem is/was.........Re: smartsound - I am at a loss

I found that just two clips ("Hot & Spicey" and "Island Party") work fine.
When I click on "Smartsound Quicktracks" and look at the Elements album, the two clips above are shown as the only two
loaded out of the 23 clips listed. Are only two clips included free with Pro X3 (pretty cheesy) or did something go wrong in the install?
If there should be 23 clips available, is there a way to get them without reinstalling all of Pro X3?

Many thanks for your help,

ps. I have only owned X3 for a few weeks, but I think it is great. I also tried the trial version of Cyberlink.... and like X3 much more.

You apparently do not have any video or image clips in the timeline. Clear the check in the box for Auto trim, with an empty timeline, VS has nothing to trim to.

VS X3 comes with SmartSound Quicktracks 5, which includes some Multi-layer tracks. I'm not sure which one it comes with, Core Sessions or Core Foundations, as I also own SmartSound's Sonic Pro 5, which came with both of those libraries. Click on the SmartSound Quicktracks button on the Auto Music tab. Then at the very top of the dialog window that opens, it should say SmartSound Quicktracks 5, and will have 4 tabs; About, Albums, Folders, Internet. Click on the Folders tab. At the bottom of the Folders tab is a window showing the folders on your system that SmartSound and/or VS has installed. One of them should be something like C:\SmartSound Software\Quicktracks\Library.

You can try repairing the SmartSound installation from your Control Panel of your Operating System,

Try also rebuilding the SmartSound database;

Hi

The Auto Music selections are not that intuitive. Earlier versions of Video Studio were easier to understand and navigate, well that’s how I find it anyhow.

Try This:-

Make sure Scope is set to Owned Titles.
Filter is set to Album

Choosing the Subfilter will give you different library options.
If you see New Standard then try that one, Core Foundations and or Full Spectrum may also be available.

The individual clips being selected under the Music drop down box.
The “Variation” changes the style of the selected clip.

Add to Timeline will insert a clip to the length set in the digital clock, starting at the curser position, provided the timeline is clear.

Auto trim will add a clip from curser to end of the project, or fill the space.
