VS Pro X3/VS Express 2010 Media Organiser

Post by timfi »

I have just purchased VS Pro X3 and using the Media Organiser from the included VS Express 2010 I am attempting to import some AVI files. I follow the correct process of selecting the device and the folder to import from. All seems to go well but no thumbnails appear in the organiser window. In fact the media tray is shown as empty.

Can anyone enlighten me please.

Hi

The program DVD factory Pro 2010 is not fit for purpose, in recognition of Corel’s mistake they have provided DVD Movie Factory 7SE as a replacement.

This can be downloaded from X3 by selecting the circular icon top right.
The new window has a similar cogwheel – top right—select update.
I think by installing the VSProX3 Patch will give you access to the movie Factory 7 download.

There is further information in an announcement at the top of this forum.

Thank you for your speedy response. I have installed the download for Movie Factory. However it appears to have had no effect upon the operation of VideoStudio Express 2010, as I am still unable to get the media organiser to function properly. Do I now just disregard both Movie Factory Pro 2010 and VideoStudio Express 2010, although they both still appear on the Tools menu?

In reality, you are not likely to get any detailed answers about Video Studio Express 2010. As Trevor said, just about everyone -- apart perhaps from its designers -- thought it was a piece of junk. Most people in addition seemed specifically to hate the invasive nature of the media organizer in it. In your case, more information in any case would be required. There are over 800 different types of video which use .avi as their extension. These vary widely from uncompressed video to highly compressed video. My guess is that the type of .avi you are trying to load does not have the relevant codec installed on your computer. But that is just a guess, and I am afraid that, like others, I am not really prepared to waste my time with a junk program to try to sort out a more detailed answer. Sorry.

I am also not sure if there is some confusion on your part. Trevor referred to DVD Movie Factory 7SE and not Movie Factory Pro 2010. MF 7 SE does not have a media organizer and operates completely independently of VS X3, though it can be accessed from within X3, as can Movie Factory Pro 2010.

Thank you fro your response. I did understand the difference between the two Movie Factories but thought VS Express was a separate part of the system. I will continue to use the main program without the aid of the 2010s. Again, thank you for your help.
