Please Help: 'Visual Studio Has Stopped Working'...

Post by Worble »

Hi,

I have Visual Studio 11 and my laptop spec is a Toshiba, 500gb, 4gb Ram, 6mb Cache, Nvidia GeForce 330 1GB Laptop with HD Display.

My problem is that everytime I either add a video to the timeline and try to play it, or just preview a video in the library OR when saving (it gets to about 16%) and then I get the message 'Visual Studio 11 has stopped working'.

Please Help me resolve this issue.

It probably doesn't "like" the file you're feeding-in. The solution may be to convert it to another format (perhaps with 3rd-party conversion utility if Video Studio is choking on it).

What format is the video you're feeding in, and where did it come from?

What kind of output are you looking for (DVD, Blu-Ray, upload to YouTube, etc.).

By the way, the program you are working with is VideoStudio. Visual Studio is something completely different.

Its does it with all file types for all outputs. I've tried numerous combinations. This particular operation is an iPhone video in and a MPEG 720p out.

P.S- I know its Video Studio I am used so used to typing Visual Studio because I used the program a lot on my old laptop

Video Studio 11 was never designed to work with Windows 7. They even had to bring out a special patch to make VS 12 work with it, but never did so with VS 11/11.5+. So I think that is your problem.

i know that it isn't designed to work but it also happens on my other laptop which runs vista. The errors I get are routed in the registry appdata.

If you had a set of wheels that were designed for a Chevrolet, would you expect them to work on a Ford? There is a difference in them, and there's no way to put them on. VS 11 was not developed or written for an operating system greater than Vista. The changes made between the two systems, the drivers, the firmware, are too great to expect older software to run properly on them.

With Win7, it is an exception to the rule, if it runs at all. Running it on Vista, may have to do with the types of video files that you're attempting to edit. DVD Doug requested this information in his post above. Without it all we can do is guess..
