Limited functionality on free download?

Is the free download restricted in the features you can trial? I cannot import video and am not sure if its by design or I have a problem with my system.

Yes the free download is quite restricted in the features it has but as far as I am aware you should be able to import video - or how else how are you going to try it ???

Perhaps if you told us exactly what you are trying to do and how you are doing it we may be able to point out where your going wrong.

Do you mean import or capture (end result might be the same but they are different methods )

I mean capture. I have a Panasonic PV-GS250 digital video camera. Both computer and camera have both USB-2 and IEEE 1394 ports. I can capture video from the camera using Microsoft's 'Windows Movie Maker' but want to try Ulead VideoStudio 9.

When I use the USB connection, I am able to select the capture tab in Ulead and then select the capture video icon. The VCR controls within VideoStudi are then able to control the playback, start, stop, rewind etc. but no images are displayed in the video frame. I am also unable to enter a new project name.

With IEEE 1394, the computer recognizes the camer when connected but no 'imaging device' appears in the control panel hardware devices list.

You usually have to change the interface for the camcorder in the
setup screen of the camcorder "Playback/VTR Mode".
There should be a choice of Firewire/USB.

Also, I think most camcorders warn you NOT to connect
both the USB and FIRE ports to the computer at the sametime.
